February brings so many reasons to celebrate: Superbowl 51, Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day, and Black History Month to name just a few! Keep your eye out around the school for the numerous events and activities going on this month and make sure to get involved!

Singing Valentines
LHS Theater Company will be selling Singing Valentine Grams to students and staff from February 8th through the 13th in the cafeteria during lunch periods ($2 for one and $3 for 5). The LHS Theater Officers provide a list of songs to choose from, and will come to classrooms on Valentine's Day and deliver singing telegrams to loved ones and friends. The proceeds will help offset the costs of the Spring Musical!
Black History Month Celebration
In recognition of Black History Month, LHS will host a celebration entitled, “Black History: Glancing at the Past, Moving Toward the Future” on Friday, February 24th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The event will feature an array of moving performances, festive dances, music by the Madrigal and Gospel Choirs and the LHS band, refreshments, awards, and tributes by LHS students, faculty, and special guests.
This celebration is a FREE event and is open to all who wish to attend! Donations will be graciously accepted!

Op Smile to host Leadership Summit
2017 Science & Engineering Fair
Lawrence Township Public Schools will hold the annual Science and Engineering Fair at Lawrence Intermediate School on Saturday, February 25, 2017.

Music to Our Ears
On January 21st, 14 LHS students were accepted into the Central Jersey Honors Symphonic Band and performed at Sayreville War Memorial High School. The students performed alongside students from other Central Jersey high schools and had the opportunity to work with guest conductor Joseph Higgins, Director of Bands at Rowan University. Students were selected based upon nominations from their directors.

LHS Idol Winners Crowned
Congratulations to the winners of this year's LHS Idol (1st place - Lisbeth Burgos, 2nd place - Chloe Roberts, and 3rd place - Devin Tulumalo)! LHS Idol took place on Thursday, January 26th. With the help from the sponsorship of Bristol Myers Squibb, LHS DECA was able to raise $900 to be donated to New Eyes for the Needy.
Soccer Standouts
LHS is proud to announce that three of our girls' soccer players received all-state honors this season: Kelli Collins (freshman), Nelle Evans (senior) and Kelsey Holt (senior).
Kelsey was also awarded with Top "20" Central Region!

Music, Maestro!
We have even more news from the LHS music department! Junior Eliza Wirkijowski will be performing at Carnegie Hall on February 25, 2017! She won her audition and is performing in the 12th Young Artist Competition Winner Recital. She will be performing F. Chopin Nocturne Op. 55 No. 1.

On January 26th, the LMS/LHS PTO sponsored a Soup Luncheon! Faculty and staff enjoyed delicious soups, breads, and salads donated by our amazing parents. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity, kindness, and culinary wizardry. Our bellies (and our hearts) are full!

Donate Change or Mac-n-Cheese Cups
Throughout the month of February, Student Council and Quixote Quest (teens who make a difference through volunteering) will be collecting spare change and microwavable macaroni and cheese cups. Their goal is to help students who have been classified as "food insecure," which means they have been identified as students who do not have access to food on the weekends.
Donation boxes are available in the Guidance Office and the School Store.

- LMS Baseball, softball and track practices start: March 23rd
Self-Defense Night
The Business & International Studies Academy will be sponsoring a Self-Defense Night at LHS on Thursday, March 2nd from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The cost will be just $5 per person. All ages are welcome! Stay tuned for more information as this event gets closer.

Spring Musical
Save the date for this year's Spring Music, Disney's The Little Mermaid! The production, which will take place on March 16th, 17th, and 18th, will feature over 60 LHS students on stage! Tickets will be available online at the end of February at www.showtix4u.com ($10 for aduts, $8 for students). Tickets will also be available at the door for $10 general admission.
