Culture

The national language of Norway is Norwegian. There are two forms: Nynorsk (pronounced nee nosk) and Bokmål (Pronounced Bak Mal). 76% of Norwegians are Evangelical Lutheran. About 2% are Roman Catholic. The rest are other religion or don't belong to a religion. They celebrate the same holidays as the United States. They celebrate Christmas, Easter, and New Years. They are celebrated the same way as the U.S.

Food

Norway eats seafood and bread. Something most people eat are open sandwiches. Bread is usually eaten with every meal

Norwegian Pancakes

  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups mil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey plus more for serving
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter plus 2 teaspoons for cooking

  1. Combine flour and salt. Add eggs, milk, and sugar. Whisk until it is light and no lumps. Stir in butter and let rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat 2 teaspoons butter over medium heat in a cast iron or heavy skillet. Add 1/3 cup of batter and immediately tilt the skillet around so batter spreads out evenly. Cook for 3 minutes, then flip. Cook for another 2 minutes then transfer to plate.
  3. Repeat step 2 until all the batter has been used
  4. Serve with berries and sugar.

Norway's official currency is the Norwegian Krone. 1 Krone is 0.13 of a dollar. Norway is a constitutional monarchy. The current king of Norway is Harald V of Norway. Norway's GDP is $513 billion and has an unemployment rate of only 3.5%. Norway's main export is oil. They also export fish and aluminum.

Transportation/Lodging

Day 1-2: Leave at 4 o'clock. Take of from O'Hare International Airport to Stockholm to Oslo, Norway. Arrive next day at 11:50. Round trip cost about $1,462. Check into Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz Oslo. $291 a day. Relax in hotel

Day 3: Leave to Viking Ship Museum $80 per adult. Return to hotel and sleep

Day 4: 7 hour tour of Norway's fjords. Cost $112. Return to hotel and sleep

Day 5: Visit the Fram museum. The museum dedicated to polar expeditions Cost $100 per adult return home and sleep


Day 6-7 Pack, eat, and go to airport. Take off to Stockholm at 1 o'clock. Arrive and spend the night. Leave for Chicago at 10 and arrive at 12 the next day.

Total Cost approximately 2918 (Not including meals and gift shopping)
