Orientations vs Welcome Sessions
Orientations are usually focused on school policies, taking attendance and give you an overview of the school basics. They are hosted by advisors.
Welcome Sessions are hosted by teachers to give you the specifics for each class or course.

Attend ONE orientation session online your first day of school, or first week of school, depending on your schedule. These will show in your student's schedule, and are typically offered multiple times your first week. VIEW ORIENTATION INFO
Online Learning Course: Log into the school system to begin the Welcome to Online Learning course. You may begin this before the first day of school if you choose. This course gives you the information for each course for your student and helps you to learn how the school system works.
On the First Day: Log into the school system between 8 and 8:30 to see your student's Class Connect (Events) Schedule. This varies by student, but those live classes are the priority to plan the day. You should see an orientation offered, along with other live classes and lessons to do.
Who can you ask for help? Your CLASSROOM TEACHER is your champion for academic questions and your ADVISOR can support you with nonacademic questions and support as you begin OHVA. You can also visit HELP.K12.COM to search for HOW-TO info!
Should I purchase School Supplies?
Students can have the usual supplies like crayons, markers, pencils, ruler, folders, and scissors, and various household items. In additiion we recommend some printer paper. The amount of printing can vary by grade and personal preference.
New? Got a Few Questions?
- When do we get our schedules? Can I see my schedule early? Keep an eye on the Online School and emails from your teacher. Many grades have Class Connect schedules posted on the school website.
- When will I hear from a teacher or counselor? Staff will be in touch by mid-August.
- What is a ClassConnect? See below!
- Are there really three or four orientations? I keep seeing them getting added to my schedule. To allow for flexibility and busy schedules we offer several options to attend an orientation.
- I am feeling so overwhelmed already. There is so much to figure out. We've got you! Hang in there. You're starting something brand new, and it takes time. Reach out to your advisor, join parent groups...lots of ways to get the help you need!
Save the Date for Meet Your Teacher F2F Events
Watch your email for invites and instructions for Meet Your Teacher F2F (in person) events for your child and their teacher to connect at a regional park location. These events usually take place close to the start of school.
AIMSWeb+ Assessments
Your student's teacher will administer the AIMSWeb+ Assessment 3 times in the school year. They will provide additional information. This assessment will give your child's teacher essential information to support your student academically all year long.
