A Message from Principal Gordon
Dear Lincoln Families,
This is our last communication for the 2020-21 school year. I am so filled with joy as I know that we made through a school year, 3 different ways, in a pandemic but most of all that we navigated these unknown waters safely. I could not have asked for a better school community and look forward to seeing everyone in August! A few housekeeping items:

Ms. Gordon

Staff Shout Outs
- Andrew Garcia
We are so lucky to be able to join Sr. Domecq in person for these last few weeks of the school year. He has incorporated so much play into our second graders' learning, including a maker space where our son reports he is working on building a ferris wheel. Thank you so much Sr. Domecq for being such a special teacher all year long. What an amazing addition to Lincoln!
- Meghann Moses
Ms. Logan has done a wonderful job keeping her students, and our daughter, in particular, engaged and motivated to learn It's been a unique year, to say the least, but Ms. Logan has been an upbeat, steady and positive influence throughout it all. Thank you so much for all you do!

Maestro Domecq is an exceptional educator. He was hired as a new 2nd grade Spanish Immersion teacher this academic year and we feel blessed as a family that our son, Curtis was able to experience being a student in his classroom. Maestro Domecq was thrown into a new working environment during a pandemic and handled it so well. He has been a great communicator and very responsive. As a parent, one of the benefits of having our son in remote learning this year has been the ability to get a glimpse of what is happening in the classroom. I have constantly been impressed by Maestro Domecq's intentionality with curriculum. He exposed his class to readings and videos that provoked thoughtful dialogue and empathy towards others. He was firm and fun. He was fair and caring. He went out of his way to drop off supplies and kits to all of his students. He is just a GREAT teacher. We will miss him very much. We want to give him the biggest SHOUT OUT for being such a wonderful teacher.

Ms. Meglan has been intentional and kind in giving our child extra support this year. She is strengths-based and has helped him love to read and grow in confidence. He feels loved and cared for and empowered when he works with her. We are so thankful for her amazing expertise!!
- Megan Parker
We are blown away when we think of all the “pivots” :) the specials teachers have made this year. The supply kits, the time changes, the facility versatility, the commitment to their craft regardless of setting. Art and music and Spanish and PE and Library are INTEGRAL. Thank you for all you have done this year for our kids! ❤️

Finish Strong: Help Us Keep D97 Safe
The decisions we make during these next few weeks have a direct impact on our ability to maximize in-person learning for our students. Whether you are vaccinated or unvaccinated, we all have a responsibility to follow ALL safety guidelines set by state and local health departments in order to reduce potential spread of the virus.
With this in mind, please help us "Stay Safe and Finish Strong."
- If you are sick, STAY HOME.
- Wear a face mask or covering at all times while at school.
- Maintain social distancing (6 feet, as much as possible).
- Wash or sanitize your hands often.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue.
A message from the Technology Department: Student Non - Device Collection
We hope this message finds you well. As we prepare for the end of the school year, there are two updates from the District 97 Technology Department that I want to share.
First, we will not be collecting devices from students who are currently in kindergarten through seventh grade. This decision was made with the health and safety of our students and families in mind, considering the logistics of collecting more than 4,000 devices. It will also ensure access for all students who are participating in the summer school sessions being offered by the district and other partner organizations. In addition, as shared prior the board of education has approved the three year technology plan that included the refresh of student devices. The technology department has ordered those devices and expects them in during the summer in time to have them prepared and ready for distribution during the first week of school. During distribution we will handle the collection of the current devices and distribution of the new devices at one time. More information will be shared about this timing and process as we get closer to the start of the 2021-2022 school year.
The technology department will continue to service devices through a specified schedule throughout the summer. There will be more details shared on this in the coming days/weeks. If you and your family move out of the district, please email helpdesk@op97.org to schedule a time to drop off your device to the district office prior to leaving. It will be very important to get these devices as soon as possible so we can have them cleaned and prepped for the students in the fall.
Thank you for your review of this information and hope all is well with you and your families. We will continue to provide you updates throughout the coming weeks and months. Sincerely, Michael Arensdorff
