The Principal's Office
Cody Plake, Leonard High School Principal
Howdy,
I can not believe that it is almost October. Soon, it will cool off and our students will be getting ready for Halloween. Everything in the stores will be "pumpkin" flavored (coffee, candles, cakes, etc...) and soon we will see Christmas decorations being put on the shelves.
I have eyewitnessed outstanding teaching over the 1st 6 Weeks. I have been in all teacher's classrooms at least twice and the teachers are doing a great job challenging the students to think. Our students and teachers have been doing a fantastic job and I look forward to the beginning of the 2nd 6 Weeks.
I hope you all have a great week.

Leonard ISD Joins START WITH HELLO WEEK
Leonard ISD joined thousands of schools and youth organizations from across the U.S. by bringing Start With Hello Week to our community the week of September 23-27, 2019. This program is offered by the Sandy Hook Promise and is a prevention program that trains elementary, middle and high school students how to reduce social isolation by showing students how to be more socially inclusive and connected to each other. The goals of Start With Hello are to teach students how to:
· See Someone Alone
· Reach Out and Help
· Start With Hello
Social isolation is a growing epidemic in the United States. In every school and in every community there are young people who suffer silently because they feel left out, alone or invisible which can lead to bullying, violence or depression. This program is designed to help students start the back-to-school season and immediately feel seen, accepted and safe.
Start With Hello asks students, educators, parents and other community leaders who interact with children and teens to take steps in class, the cafeteria, and other times in their day to be inclusive and connected. Start With Hello Week activities raise awareness and educate students and the community through trainings, advertising, discussion, activities, media events, and student contests. Leonard ISD will be part of a nationwide movement to empower young people to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness.
Fall Festival will take place on 10/15/19 at 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Teachers are charged with the responsibility of enforcing student dress code in their classes as well as on campus. Administrators and other school personnel share the same responsibility. A student's conduct is related to his/her dress and, as a result, the school is directly concerned with the student's dress. The appropriateness of a student's dress for the school environment should dictate the choice of clothing and grooming practices. All students are expected to accept the responsibility to adhere to common practices of modesty, cleanliness, and neatness. Between regular school hours the dress code will be strictly enforced. There will be an added level of tolerance toward student dress at after-hour school activities. However, students at Leonard should never wear clothing or accessories of an obscene, lewd, violent, or vulgar nature while at school or at any school function. In addition, certain school activities require a certain standard of dress, and should a student choose to attend the activity, he/she will be expected to dress in a manner consistent with the occasion. If the principal determines that a student’s grooming or clothing violates the school’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school. If not corrected, the student may be assigned to in-school suspension for the remainder of the day, until the problem is corrected, or until a parent or designee brings an acceptable change of clothing to the school. Repeated offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Campus administrators have discretion about dress code compliance.Extra-Curricular Schedules:
