Sunday Message
October 21-25
Principal's Message
Welcome back to our Track 4 staff and families! I want to remind Track 1, 2, and 4 families that Monday, October 21 is a Teacher Workday. There is no school for students.
Boosterthon is going strong and we need your support to reach our goal! Remember, the $30,000 we are trying to raise will support a variety of essential programs at PUE.
PUE PTA News
Happy Sunday Panthers!
We are a little over halfway to our Pleasant Union Fun Run goal! Students and families are gathering pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps) at the Pleasant Union Panther Prowl. The Panther Prowl fun run was on 10/17 for Track 3 & 10/28 for the other tracks.
Students are also experiencing Mindspark: Wild West which combines S.T.E.A.M. skills (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the Mindspark kids to save Dr. Shock, our students will learn five character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
Our goal is to raise $30,000 for Landscaping, Technology, Cultural Arts Programs, Instructional Supplies, Family & Staff Events, and Scholarship Funds. If we reach our school goal, Mrs. Brown & Mrs. Perry will have a TRICYCLE RACE around the school!
As of October 18, 2019, 53% of the students are registered, 46% have participated, and the current PUE Profit is $16,576!
Track 1 & 2 Weekend Challenge: The class with the most new donations over the weekend will get to throw WATER BALLOONS at the Boosterthon team and their teacher will earn a gift card!
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MEET OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL! PLEASE HELP YOUR CHILD COMPLETE THESE STEPS:

Veterans Day Concert
Veterans Day is less than a month away, and Pleasant Union always enjoys recognizing families and friends who have served in the Armed Forces. As well as two concerts of patriotic music, we do a wall in the lobby highlighting those people who are our heroes. If you have a special veteran in your life that you would like to recognize on this wall, please consider sending in a copy of a photo of this person. Please label the back of any photos so that they can be returned.
For more details about the concerts, please check out Ms. Freer’s Google site on the Pleasant Union webpage.
Thanks for helping us honor our veterans!

Visitors to PUE
Thank you to all parents, visitors, and volunteers for joining us on campus. Please remember that upon arrival to campus you must report to the front office to use our sign in system called Lobby Guard. You have to use your driver’s license to sign in through Lobby Guard so ensure you and any guests have that available to sign in with. Additionally, you will be asked the reason for your visit. Parents may join us for lunch any day! If you would like to visit your child's classroom or observe, please set this up with the teacher in advance. The safety of our campus is our top priority. It is important that we know exactly who is on campus each day.
Transit Vocal Band
Wednesday, Oct. 23 will be our first Cultural Arts performance of the year. Here is a little information about the group:
All band, no instruments…
transit is four singers, that’s it. Our only instruments are our natural born voices. Everything you hear from the stage and on our studio recordings begins with the human voice. Utilizing the latest technology we combine our vocal talents with stage and studio effects to bring our music to life and put on a show that those who have never seen a vocal band will hardly believe.
transit draws on the combined talents of 4 extraordinary individuals who have been a part of the vocal music scene for more than ten years. Their love for a cappella is second only to their love for music.
Readvolution
For the third consecutive year, we will partner with the Carolina Hurricanes to bring READvolution to all of our elementary schools. This exciting partnership will support a community-wide literacy campaign around daily reading outside of school, plus allow students the chance to attend a Hurricanes game. This year the READvolution time frame will be between Monday, Sept. 30 and Friday, Dec. 6, 2019. Students will be able to be part of this event by reading daily for 20 minutes! Parents will log their students reading times on the online log in. We appreciate this opportunity to build lifelong readers and learners in our community.
