Announcements
We need 100% of our families to have filled out the survey regarding COVID testing by this Friday. The email comes out on Wednesdays and is from PUSD Health Programs. This is DIFFERENT than signing up for COLOR testing. The survey asks you, since your kiddo is under 12, if you are planning on signing up for COLOR weekly testing at SME. If you are not currently signed up for COLOR testing, after you complete the survey, you can join color, giving consent for weekly testing at school. If you have any questions please email me or call the school office.

Are you experiencing an increased amount of stress due to COVID?
My name is Savannah Sweet and I am a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Alliant International University, Los Angeles. In my experience of working with families this past year, many parents are experiencing an increased amount of stress due to the many challenges associated with COVID-19. For this reason, I am conducting a study to evaluate my work with an online, group-based, psychoeducational, mindful parenting program that I have adapted for parents in the community. Groups will take place for 1.5 hours, once a week, for 6 weeks. During the groups, parents will have an opportunity to learn more about how mindfulness- and compassion-based practices can be used to lower stress while parenting, as well as participate in informal and formal mindfulness practices, group-based reflections, and discussions. Those who participate will also be asked to complete online questionnaires on three different occasions (before, immediately after, and 4 weeks after the program). Parents who have at least one child between the ages of 5 and 12 may be eligible to participate.
Furthermore, if you know of any parents that you think might benefit from these groups, please feel free to share this information with them as well!
Please see the attached flyer for more information about how to find out if you are eligible to participate. Thank you in advance for your interest in this program.
Sincerely,
Savannah Sweet, MA
