Hoover Elementary School News
April 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Happy Spring, although this week is supposed to feel more like summer! We are now in the final marking period of the school year and our students are working hard this year.
As we implement the Leader in Me program at Hoover, your input is essential to us. Please take a few minutes to complete the parent portion of the Measurable Results Assessment Survey here. For more information about this survey, please see the letter posted in Schoology.
Please take a moment to read through our school newsletter to see the exciting things that are happening this month at Hoover!
Thank you,
Mrs. Czarnecki
Safety and Security
Safety and security are at the forefront of everyone's minds now more than ever given several recent events in the news. With that being said, the district continues to discuss ways we can improve our safety and security within our buildings. We practice safety drills regularly and staff has been trained using ALICE. For more information, here's additional information from our district website regarding general safety/security and safety drills.
Exciting events happening this month!

Fruit and Veggie Challenge
Mr. Jutkus challenges you to try eating a new fruit or vegetable and to take a picture of yourself eating it. Be open-minded and try something different or even try a new variety of a common fruit/veggie such as Moon Drop Grapes!
If you’re up for the challenge head to a local grocery store, farmers market, or international market with your family and find a fruit or vegetable to try. Print out a picture of yourself eating it and send it to Mr. Jutkus by the end of April. All pictures will be displayed on the bulletin board/wall in the gym. Please share your eating experience with your teachers and classmates. Have fun and happy eating!

What’s Happening in Guidance:
In April, Hoover students are continuing to learn about careers! Here are some ways to connect with your kiddo about their Guidance class learning…
- Ask your Kindergartener what career they imagined for themselves. What tool will they use in this job?
- Ask your First grader about their entrepreneurship business plan. How does it connect to their hobby?
- Ask your Second grader which career they researched for their project. What do they like about this job?
Interesting Article of the Month:
“Raising kids is the most challenging, exhausting, rewarding, important job in the world. And yet, this job comes with no training… no manual. We’re just expected to figure it out.” – Dr. Becky Kennedy, Psychologist
