Pennies for Patients
The National Honor Society would like to thank all CB West students and staff who participated in our Pennies for Patients fundraiser in April. For two weeks, NHS students organized and encouraged collections of spare change in all advisories and lunches. Mr. Donohue’s sophomore advisory brought in the most change with over $158 in donations. Mr. Hensel’s junior advisory and Ms. Schrier’s seniors came in a close second and third. We’d like to give a big shout-out to the junior class for being the grade that collected the most donations overall!
At the end of the fundraiser, CB West donated over $1600 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s campaign to aid children fighting blood cancer. Thanks again for a great collective effort. As we all know, West is best!
3rd Marking Period Report Cards Will Be Distributed To Students AND Available On Parent Portal On Tuesday, April 22nd
CB West Jazz Ensemble
The CB West Jazz Ensemble was awarded a first place performance at the Cavalcade of Bands Jazz Championships this past weekend. The band also received awards for Best Sight Reading, Best Trombones, and Gabe Fraivillig earned an award for Best Soloist. CB West is proud!
A French and Art Connection!
During the month of April, students from Mrs. Brookshaw’s French 4 Honors and Mrs. Levin’s Art 2 and Art 3 classes collaborated to study Impressionism and create original Impressionist works of art. The classes learned about the history of Impressionism, various artists, painting techniques, and color mixing guidelines, after which they paired up to begin their paintings. Students rotated several times per block so that every person worked on every canvas, and at the end the collaboration yielded 22 paintings. The paintings are available for viewing in the C.B. West library.
