Update
Great Schools Update:
Thank you so much for your positive comments on Great Schools! They filled the staff and my bucket for sure. We know there are always things we can do better but always appreciate the affirmation!
I looked into the data on Great School and it is correct. To explain more, they use data received from GOSA (Governor’s Office of Student Achievement) to assign percentile rankings to schools for performance and progress. The “95%” and “46%” included in the chart above are actually “percentile” assignments as opposed to “percentages”. (see image below)
The detail for calculation of the equity rating can be found here:
https://www.greatschools.org/gk/ratings-methodology/#methodology-equity-rating
It’s important to note that organizations such as Great Schools all have their own methodology that is used to develop their scores and rankings for schools. They may use data from the state, but the calculations used for scoring differ from that used by the state for CCRPI. Whereas Great Schools is assigning New Prospect a rating of 6 out of 10, Niche.com gives New Prospect an “A” rating. This is just to say that ratings vary from organization to organization.
Celebrations:
We are so excited that many of our amazing students participated in the Fulton County Technology Competition. We will recognize and spotlight all of the projects in the next issue of Panther Press! A huge Congratulations goes out to Ella Siegel, Audrey Gardner and Brock Smith who got 1st place in their division and Estefania Paez who got 2nd place! We are so proud. The first place winners will move on to the state level Georgia Student Technology Competition. Go Panthers!
Our New SGC members for the 2021-22 school year are Amanda Oliver (teacher), Jennifer Gardner (parent) & Christina Wallunas (parent). We are so happy to have you join us! Thanks for all who ran & all who voted!
