Notes from our Director
Hello DATA community,
STAAR EOC testing is this week for the US History EOC, Algebra I EOC, and Biology EOC. AP testing also begins this week for some AP courses. Classes will be asynchronous on Tuesday, May 4 through Thursday, May 6. All in-person learners who are not taking the STAAR EOC tests on the assigned days, but come to campus on those days, will report to the portables/Arts & Science building area and will be assigned to a classroom to work asynchronously. Some AP teachers will be reaching out to AP students to work with them on some final items before their scheduled exams. Be sure to check with your individual teachers on specifics. Messages will be shared in Google Classroom, on Teams, and via emails.
As I have been reviewing grades, especially for seniors, I am concerned. I know that this year has been difficult and unusual for us all. However, one of our core values is perseverance and I know we can persevere through the hard times and be successful. Seniors, the final month of the year has arrived. Please, please, please engage in what is needed to finish the year sTRong! Our teachers have been amazing this year and are working over and above to find ways to support, but students must engage. Check Skyward for updated grades and reach out to your teachers with questions or support that might be needed. If you are not testing this week, please use the time to catch up and complete any missing assignments.
This week ahead is Teacher Appreciation Week and we have some fun surprises for our Wonderful DATA Teachers. They have definitely been superheroes this year and found creative ways to make learning happen. We are so appreciative of our Incredible DATA Teachers. Take some time this week to thank them for their ongoing amazing work.
Below is a special "Senior Updates" section with a large number of details for our Class of 2021 graduates. This section has been updated with new details for our seniors to keep you up to date on the many happenings planned for this special month. Thank you for reviewing the many details and reminders included below. Please continue to stay safe. If you have specific questions, please feel free to reach out.
Stay well,
Lori Murach
STAAR End-of-Course May testing information
May 4 - US History EOC
May 5 - Algebra I EOC
May 6 - Biology EOC
All STAAR EOC testing this year will be done on-campus. Our teachers have already reached out to the students and parents to get their RSVP for who plans to come to campus to take the respective EOC tests.
The STAAR EOC tests will begin at 9:00 AM on their respective days and are four-hour tests. Students who are testing will be allowed into their assigned room at 8:45 AM. Proctors are to begin reading the instructions at 9:15 AM. On the testing days, posters will be hanging on the cafeteria windows in the courtyard with testing students’ assigned room numbers and staff will be available to assist students with finding their assigned testing rooms.
Students will be required to stay in their testing classroom for the full four hours (until 1:30 PM). Lunch for testing students will be served in the cafeteria beginning at 1:50 PM and will end at 2:30 PM. After lunch is completed, students who are normally on-campus learners will report to 4th or 7th period classes at 2:35 PM. Students who are normally off-campus learners may get lunch and/or leave at 1:50 PM. At 2:30 PM, all off-campus learners who stayed for lunch will leave the courtyard and wait for their rides by the front library circle. If their ride is not here by 2:45 PM, they will have to report to their 4th or 7th period classes at that time. Students will not be allowed to roam the campus or wait in the front of the school until 4:15 PM.

AP exams start this week
May 18-21, 24-28 is Administration 2 for AP Exams. Some of these AP exams will overlap with semester exams. If a student is scheduled to take an AP exam at the same time as a semester exam the student will have to take the AP exam at the scheduled time and then will make arrangements with their teacher to make-up their semester exam.
