Winter Parent/Teacher Conferences

It’s that time of year again! Our Winter Conferences are scheduled by teachers on an "as needed" basis. If your teacher has any concerns regarding your child's progress, they will connect with you regarding a day and time for a parent/teacher conference. These conferences will take place during the month of January or December.

As always if you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your child’s teacher. There is no need to wait for the teacher to reach out to you. Your child's teacher is more than willing to sit down and have a face to face conversation or even a phone call conference.

iPads Charged and Ready

Please make sure your child's iPad and charged and ready every day for school. Our 3rd -5th graders bring the iPads home every evening for homework purposes. Checking to make sure the iPad is charged for the next day is very helpful for students to start the day prepared.

A choir message from Mrs. Runingen

Our fourth and fifth grade choir is now on break until January 29th. There will be no rehearsals until Tuesday the 29th. If there are any fourth or fifth graders interested in singing who are not currently part of choir, they may join in January. Permission slips will be available after the New Year begins. Current choir members need not fill out a new registration form.

Read A Thon Update

Congratulations to Ms. Lauer’s 2nd graders! They won a free Dairy Queen ice cream treat for having 70% of the class read and turn in their calendars!! In a close second place was Mrs. Berg’s 1st graders with 67% participation. Third place was Mrs. Schiefelbein’s kindergarten class at 65%. These three classes also earned a free salad or pizza slice at Kwik Trip. Keep up the good work and continue to encourage your kids at home. Remember, reading logs turned in December-March will get a Great America voucher this spring! Happy Holidays!

Cub Scouts Toy Drive

Thanks to everyone that donated toys to Pack 1, Hillcrest Cub Scouts Toy Drive! Their bins were overflowing with awesome toys that will be delivered to Children's Hospital of WI, just in time for the Holidays!! So many children who receive these toys will truly be blessed this holiday season!! Thanks again for all your support!!

Enrollment Period Open December 1st

The School District of Waukesha's open enrollment period is open beginning tomorrow. The open enrollment process is for any family who lives outside of our attendance area and would like to attend Hillcrest next year. Students who are currently attending Hillcrest do not need to complete this process for K-5th grade but younger siblings who are not currently attending do need to complete process. ALL potential 4K students for the 2019-2020 school year, from inside and outside of our attendance area, must register during this enrollment period; before Friday, February 1st at 4:30PM.

Enrollment Message from the School District of Waukesha

School Choice


The School Choice/Inter-District Transfer application period will open on December 1, 2018, at 8:00 am and will run through 4:30 pm on January 11, 2019. If you are considering attending a school within the district that is not your neighborhood school, you must complete a school choice application. The application can be found online at https://sdw.waukesha.k12.wi.us/Page/114. Email confirmations that we received the application will be made upon submission of the electronic application. Per SDW Board Policy ag6152, the School District of Waukesha may decline an intra-district transfer until all financial obligations have been met. If your child has any outstanding fees, please have them paid in full by January 11th.


Secondary notifications of approval/denial will be mailed home on or around January 17, 2019. If your student is approved, the letter of commitment will need to be signed and returned to the Enrollment Office by January 28th.


Elementary notifications of approval/denial will be mailed home on or around March 8, 2019. If your student is approved, you will need to sign a letter of commitment by the date listed in the letter to hold

your child’s seat

El período de solicitud para la Elección de Escuela/Transferencia Dentro del Distrito comenzará el 1⁰ de diciembre de 2018, a las 8:00 am y terminará el 11 de enero de 2019 a las 4:30 pm. Want to ski or snowboard this year? Join the club!

Whether you’ve skied before or not, now is your chance to hit the slopes. This is a Ski & Snowboard Club open to all Hillcrest students and alumni (K-12) and their families and friends. Join and you’ll ski or snowboard at Little Switzerland four times this winter, plus you can take lessons and rent equipment if needed, all at a huge discounted rate. See attachment for details! Last year we have over 25 people and they all have a blast, from ages 3 to 63!

Start Time for 4K-5th Grade- 8:40AM - line up bell rings at 8:35AM

End Time for 4K - 11:25AM

End Time for 5K-5th Grade - 3:40PM

Playground supervision begins at 8:20. Please do not drop your child off until our recess supervisors are on the playground.


*Please note - our clocks often run up to 5 minutes early. We consistently reset them but the time continues creep forward!

Safe Arrival - Available Now!

Hillcrest is now fully up and running with the district's new attendance reporting system, Safe Arrival. Safe Arrival allows you to report an absence or appointment at any time from your phone. Our attendance line is still available for reporting absences but we encourage you to give Safe Arrival a try. We know you will find it to be an easy to use system that is available at times that work for YOU!


1) By far the easiest way to interact with the new system is by downloading the app on your phone and signing up for an account.


2) If you are not an app user and prefer to use your computer signup and login at https://go.schoolmessenger.com/


3) The phone option is still available by calling the attendance line at school. There will be a menu there to transfer your call into the new system. You may however, want to use the direct number 1-866-490-7371. By dialing direct from a phone that is registered with the district, the system should recognize the number you are calling from and be able to quickly identify your children and allow you to confirm their absence.
