Keeping the Crew up to Date! Volume 2 Issue 35 - 5/17/23

Greetings Clipper Nation!

Progress reports went live on the 10th. Be sure to review how your student is doing on the family portal. Let's continue to help our students finish the year strong.

State law requires all high school students to participate in MCAP assessments to gain insight into how students are mastering the content and to determine whether a student is College and Career Ready. JMB will be administering these assessments to students who are in Algebra 1, English 10, Biology, or Government during the week of May 15-19. Most of this testing will occur for students during their respective classes, students will receive a testing ticket with information. For more information see the letter attached to the email notification. If you have any questions, please contact our school testing coordinator, Christine Cook, ccook@wcboe.org.

Academic awards will take place this week starting on Tuesday during Flex. Students who have earned an academic award will receive an email invitation. Students will get their award and light refreshments will be available.

Tuesday (Juniors) Wednesday (Sophomores) Thursday (Freshman) Friday (Seniors)

Dual Enrollment Updates

If you think about dual enrollment and it makes you think of students being able to take a college class while in high school, you are thinking correctly. The new and improved components are that the courses students can take have vastly expanded at Salisbury University and WorWic. The other benefit is that the courses are paid for by the county as long as they are on the approved list. If you are a parent of a current 11th or 10th grader, check out the information on the county's dual enrollment site. WCPS Dual Enrollment (google.com) You will find the requirements to participate in dual enrollment, and by clicking on each school, you will be able to see all the courses students could be eligible to take. If you are interested or have questions, contact our guidance department.

How to Stay in the Know?

The best way to stay in the know is to make sure we have accurate information on file. Please look over all the information on the Student Personal Data and Enrollment Information Form as this is the information we currently have on file for you. Make any corrections to the form in blue. If you need additional space for emergency contact use a separate sheet of paper. Sign the back of the form and return it to the school. If you prefer to fill out a new form you can find a copy on our website.
