DDDD- Supporting Savannah Ambucs
This month, we are supporting a group of Savannah Arts Academy students who have started a campaign to raise money for Savannah Ambucs, an organization that students from Ellis have benefitted from themselves.
Savannah AMBUCS has the credo "Inspiring Mobility & Independence for People with Different Abilities." The organization accomplishes this in 3 ways. 1) Amtrykes (specially adapted 3-wheel bikes) are given to children, adults, & veterans who cannot ride regular bikes. 2) The organization hosts a bowling league every Saturday, as well as Challenger baseball and flag football play at AMBUCS park each Sunday for differently-abled athletes. 3) AMBUCS provides scholarships for students in physical, occupational, and speech therapy graduate programs. You can learn more about the charity by visiting their website: https://www.savannahambucs.com

Counselors' Corner
This week in School Counseling Instruction, students were taught about the role of the school counselor, and how to request to see us. Primary and Lower Elementary read The Color Monster, learning about emotions and what to do with jumbled up feelings. Upper Elementary and Erdkinder are learning about the importance of speaking up when they or classmates need help.
We are here for all students and can be available as needed for additional support. Resources are available on our School Counseling Website including a list of mental health professionals and relaxation activities.
If your child or someone you know could benefit from Backpack Buddies, a bag of food for the weekends or needs school supplies, please let us know.

Grace & Courtesy Emphasis
Throughout the school year, Ellis has a school-wide focus on certain positive character traits. Each teacher may choose to highlight these "Grace & Courtesy" emphases differently, but as a school we follow a general common curriculum.
From August 3rd to August 26th, our school-wide Grace & Courtesy emphasis is RESPONSIBILITY.
The language of identifying Responsibility from "The Self-Awakened Child" series by Jonathan Wolff
- When I do what I say I am going to do, I am being responsible.
- When I make a mistake and tell the truth about what I did, I am taking responsibility for what I do and say.
- When I do something that helps everyone and hurts no one, I am acting responsibly.
- When I tell the truth about my sad, scary or angry feelings and I ask someone to help me feel better, I am taking responsibility for me feelings.
