MARCH READ-A-THON CHALLENGE

And, the 5th and 6th grade classes that raise the most money and read the most minutes will receive a pizza party in April.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS MONDAYS AFTER SCHOOL
Intramurals will run from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. directly after school on Mondays.
Intramurals are after-school sports for Novi Meadows 5th and 6th graders. Students compete against each other in a sport. There are no established teams, but rather the teams are determined at each session. We stress fair play, good sportsmanship, and teamwork...while having fun learning and playing games with our friends. Students should have appropriate shoes in order to participate.
Please see the attached documents for our FAQ and schedule.
COUNSELORS CORNER - TRANSITION TO MIDDLE SCHOOL
The middle school team is excited to welcome the Class of 2028 to Novi Middle School in a few short months! They have put together a series of videos providing an introduction to Novi Middle School and an overview of the scheduling process and programs.
Please watch the introductory video and any other supplemental videos that interest you. These can be found on the website Class of 2028 Scheduling.
Scheduling Timeline:
Wednesday, March 2: materials distributed to students and scheduling kickoff video viewed
Wednesday, March 9: middle school counselor present to meet with students and answer questions during their A60 period
Thursday, March 10: purple middle school scheduling forms due to homeroom teacher
As our staff and students have begun talking about the upcoming transition to middle school, our students have been faced with a variety of emotions: excitement, nervousness, uncertainty, and even pressure from peers regarding course selection. Please take some time to talk with your child about the transition to middle school and encourage them to talk with supportive adults here at school if they have questions or concerns about selecting classes and/or expectations at Novi Middle School. We are here to help!

KEEPING A FOCUS ON RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY AND A SENSE OF COMMUNITY
We are trying to focus on the positive things our 6th grade students are doing here at Novi Meadows.
When we see students making responsible choices, doing the right thing, and giving back to their school and peers, we pass out a VIP ticket to share our appreciation.
All VIP tickets go in a weekly drawing for an opportunity to eat lunch in the VIP Cafe.
Once a week, a VIP winner is announced and that student’s entire lunch table gets to eat in the VIP Cafe for a day.
We hope our students are enjoying this as much as we are! We are so proud of these students and the positive impact they are making at Novi Meadows.
To the left is this weeks winner Abby Yin. Congratulations, Abby!

ABSENT HOMEWORK
Novi Meadows Parents:
When students are absent, teachers will do their best to fill them in on the work they miss. Teachers utilize a variety of tools to keep students up to date on work (Schoology, Google Classroom, on-line planners, etc.). It is not feasible to have absent students Zoom into classes that are happening at school. In addition, teachers are not able to privately Zoom with students who are absent to reteach the lessons. Teachers will provide the work that can be replicated to students upon their return. It is not always possible to recreate classroom discussion or activities
NON BUS DAYS FOR BUS RIDERS
Novi has modified the busing process due to a driver shortage. There will be buses that do not run on a certain day of the week. The following list shows what busses will NOT run on what days:
Monday - busses B, E, G, X will not run
Tuesday - busses D, I, J, R, T will not run
Wednesday - busses H, K, N, W, Y will not run
Thursday - busses A, F, O, P, S will not run
Friday - busses L, Q, U, V will not run
On the day your bus does not run, parents/guardian's will be responsible for transportation to and from school.
PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
For parents who want to make arrangements for after school CARE on the days their bus does not run, please contact Lori Croad at Lori.Croad@NoviK12.org or call 248-449-1257. Space is limited so act as soon as possible.

DROP OFF TIMES AND FLOW OF TRAFFIC
This year we have modified our drop off times for the beginning of the day to help with traffic and congestion on Taft Rd. We will be opening the doors to Meadows at 7:15am (School still starts at 7:30am).
Students who are taking a bus, parent drop off, or walkers will be able to enter the building at this time. Students will go to their respective cafeteria and wait until 7:20am. At that time they will be released to their classrooms.
If you are a parent who drives their students to or from school, please make sure to pull all the way up and around towards Novi Woods to allow for the maximum number of cars along the sidewalk. In addition, if you are able to carpool, that might help to alleviate the large number of vehicles in the line.
In addition, please do not drop students off in the middle of the parking lot. This creates an unsafe situation for them and for other drivers who are trying to navigate a busy area. Please wait in the line and drop them off along the curb. They should always exit the vehicle on the right.
Parents of 6th graders who are dropping off students should be aware that buses will need to use the left lane and turn in front of the 6th grade house to access the loading area for students. Please do not block the driveway.
Thank you again for your patience as we focus on getting students to and from school safely.
Sincerely,
Principals Fenchel and Brickey
FOOD SERVICES
Breakfast will be grab and go and eaten in the classroom. Students will make their lunch selections in the morning with their teacher in the classroom. At lunch time students will use their ID badge to receive their individually packaged meal and check out with the cashier. Remember to add funds to your student's account through PowerSchool.
