Celebrating The Season!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Winter Break is almost here!!!
Wishing all of our Wharton Wildcats and their families a wonderful holiday season. It is our hope that each of you have a wonderful break. We are so fortunate to work with the students who attend our school.Thank you for an amazing 2022. We are looking forward to a continous partnership for 2023.
Next week your child will be coming home with a bag of books. These books were donated from Bernie's Book Bank. Thanks to Ms.Lauren Pisano, who is one of our District Coaches for organizing this wonderful giveaway. Reading growth doesn't need to stop because we will be on break. Please encourage your child to read during the holiday break. Don't forget the "Read to Succeed for Schools", sponsored by the Chicago Wolves. All logs are due on January 11, 2023.
Also we will be planning a variety of activitie before break. The PBIS team has planned a fun filled day . Students will paricipate in their classroom celebration. Keep in mind the last day is December 22, 2022. We will be still providing many educational experiences during this last week.
Friendly Reminder
Starting January 9, 2023 all students must be present in the gym by 7:50 . After 7:50 students will be required to enter the main doors by the office and receive a tardy pass. We are seeing an increasing amount of tardy students. We understand the challenges , but it is important to be at school on time each day. Thank you for your cooperation!

Mrs. Steele and Ms. Lemick Classroom Activity
Our class participated in a fun activity to celebrate the end of MAP testing and all of their hard work. We completed a STEAM challenge connected tonour read aloud book. The Last Cuentista, about a girl who takes a spaceship to begin life on anew planet and all of the trials she faces on the way. We started the afternoon by reading a few additional chapters of our book. Then we got inton groups and created our own paper rocket ships out of various materials. After students finished their rocket ships, we presented them in front of each other and tested their flight time. This information was then put into a data table and graphed by the students. We ended the afternoon by answering a few questions, interpreting the graph resukts. This made a direct real life-connection to our current math unit on coordinate grids. The students worked well together and had a great time applying their larning in a fun and hands-on way!
