Message From the Principal

Athena Families:

Once again, I write to you with an abundance of pride following last week's Grade Level Assemblies. Our administrative team has been fortunate to be able to take a deep look into our student achievement data from Quarter One. Although it goes without saying that there is always room for improvement, we are incredibly proud of the remarkable achievement and resilience from Athena Trojans. In fact, the vast majority of students are passing all of their classes. Additionally, we have nearly 500 students who have earned Honor Roll, High Honor Roll, or High Honor Roll with Distinction during the first 10 weeks of school. In a pre-pandemic year, this level of achievement would have been noteworthy. At this point in time, it is truly spectacular. Thank you for your continued support at home.

It is fair to say that we also have areas in need of improvement. We know that every minute in the classroom, and engaged with instruction, matters. Over the past few weeks we have noticed an increase in tardiness to classes. In an effort to promote students being in classes on time, and prepared to learn, I have asked our faculty to assist by being present in the halls and to follow up with Grade Level Assistant Principals regarding those individuals demonstrating chronic tardiness to classes. We have also instituted a few structural adjustments, like increasing staff supervision in the hallways, to support as well. I share this with you with the hope that you can reinforce the importance of being on time for instruction, every day and every period, to your children at home.

Thank you in advance for your support. Have a wonderful week.
