High School Highlights
Weekly Updates from Big Walnut High School
March 15, 2019
We had a taste of Spring this week. Hopefully more beautiful days are on the horizon. On Tuesday, our Juniors took the ACT and we hosted our 2nd annual Career Fair (see below). A reminder that Spring Break is just two weeks away, March 25-29. Please see this week's newsletter for lots of important information and events for the coming weeks.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, school counselor or the administration if you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to contact the main office at 740-965-3766 between the hours of 7:00 and 3:15.

Information for Parents on Snapchat!
Snapchat is a popular social media app that many high school students use. The app, like other social media platforms, allows students to communicate, share stories, pictures etc.
There have been a few disruptions recently at the high school that have one thing in common, snapchat. Click here for a video that is very informative on how snapchat works and the dangers it creates for our students.
Big Walnut Local Schools Needs You!
Are you looking for a way that you can make a positive impact in Big Walnut Schools? The district is in high need of substitute custodians and bus drivers. If interested, please visit the job postings at www.bwls.net/EmploymentOpportunities.aspx.
Training will be provided to all substitutes - potential drivers will receive all training necessary to meet licensing requirements for drivers. If you have any questions, please contact Ron McClure at 740-965-8967.

Spring Testing Dates
Our Ohio State Spring Testing administration is right around the corner. During the testing, BWHS will operate on a two-hour delay schedule for students who are NOT testing. Students who are currently enrolled in a course with an end-of-course exam, as well as those students who are retesting in a specific area will need to report at normal time on the day of the tests. More information will continue to come home as we get closer to the testing dates. If you have any questions, please contact the main office, the school counseling office or the teacher of the specific course. Thank you!

Updates from the School Counseling Office
Important Scheduling Information for 2019-2020:
On Friday, March 15 students received a copy of their 2019-20 course requests (gold form). Adjustments to their requests should be noted on part two of the gold form and returned to the school counseling office no later than Thursday, March 21st. This is the final opportunity to request a course prior to building 2019-20 schedules.
To students who have CCP Request on their 2019-20 list of requests: this is not a class, it is a place holder which means you've requested a CCP class.
Schedules will be available via powerschool in August.
Seniors:
Many scholarships have deadlines quickly approaching. Students should check the school counseling website for more details!
