Covering and Surroundings
study Guide Review
This unit is about Perimeter, Area, Surface Area, and Volume. During this unit we talked about a bumper cars activity, like for the railing for bumper cars is like the perimeter. And the flooring for bumper cars is like the area. Then we did a storm shelter activity we measured the area and perimeter for the stelters. I also colored in surface area and calculated the area and perimeter for the shapes that were given like a square pyramid, rectangular pyramid, and a triangular pyramid.
What is perimeter?
Perimeter is the outside of a shape. Perimeter is measured in units. Perimeter = add all sides.
What is area?
Area is the inside of a shape. Area is length x width. Area is measured in square units.
What is Surface Area?
Surface Area is the total area of the surface of a 3D shape. The formulas for a Pyramid is (L x W) +4 (L x W divided by 2) Also the formula for a Rectangular Prism is 2 (s+s) +2 (F+Bk) +2 (t + b). Finally surface area is measured in square units.
