Skyview Upper Elementary School
Have a great summer!
Our school year closed with an awesome FUN DAY - thanks to Home & School for sponsoring and volunteering at this event. Students enjoyed inflatable obstacle courses and a DJ.
The end-of-year awards assembly honored students for their PILLARIFIC BEHAVIOR. Students were nominated by their teams of teachers and recognized in each of the pillars - Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.
To close the year, Mrs. Gorla reminded students of a few bits of advice to help them to continue to make character count in their lives:
You will be as happy as you are willing to be; choose to be happy.
Failure is not a fact; it's a perspective. Find the lesson in every setback and you'll never fail.
It's never wrong to admit you were wrong; no one is always right.
Real friends make you feel good about yourself but encourage you to be even better.
It's not just what you say, do, or intend, but how you make people feel that is most important.
ENJOY summer! See you in September!
PILLARIFIC at Skyview
The PILLARIFIC scrolls were presented at our end-of-year assemblies. Congrats to the hundreds of students who were recognized as PILLARIFIC this year!
Bench Donated by Mr. Permar's class
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Mrs. Permar's 5th grade class raised funds by growing herbs and selling them to our community. They used the profits to purchase a bench made of recycled materials which will be installed in our student drop off area.

Volunteering at our school 2013-2014!
As we near the end of the 2012-2013 school year, we wish to inform our families of changes to our school volunteer policies and procedures. Methacton’s school volunteers are a critical and valued part of our home school community – many of the programs, activities, and special events that take place in our schools are totally dependent upon the support of our parent and community volunteers.
Many of these changes are in line with our school safety and emergency preparedness initiatives. While this will lengthen the amount of time it takes to become an approved Methacton volunteer, we know that our families support initiatives that are designed to keep your students safe while in our care. These changes, as outlined by Board Policy 916 (revised February, 2013 – as below), are:
- All volunteers will need clearances to volunteer in any capacity including but not limited to: lunch room, holiday parties, homeroom helpers, and field trip chaperones.
- The process to obtain clearances, obtain a TB test and become Board approved may take up to three months. Therefore, please begin the process as soon as possible to be ready for September!
