Carus School News
Hello Carus Community,
What a crazy week, weather-wise! A reminder that IF we end up cancelling school tomorrow, it would be an online learning day (iPads were sent home yesterday). If that's the case, expect more information to follow, upon closure. Stay safe out there today!
Spring Conferences
- The dates are Wednesday, March 22(after school) and Thursday, March 23(no school). There are a few teachers who have added additional days for more options.
- All conferences will be held in person, at Carus in individual classrooms. A Zoom conference could be scheduled upon request.
- The time slots are 30 minutes each.
- We use a scheduling software called PTCFast for all of our conference scheduling. All you will need to do is click on the button below, click on your student's teacher and select an available time that works for your family.
- The one exception is Mrs. Hauck's class. She has a separate conference sign-up that went out to families.
Future Chef Competition
Please see attached flyer for our annual Future Chef competition that we are able to bring back this year! This event is a cooking competition open to all students grades 4-6, and will be held on Friday, March 17th.
This years theme is 'COMPLETE THE PLATE WITH THEIR FAVORITE FRUIT OR VEGETABLE SIDE DISH'
Judging will be based on the following criteria:
Originality, Kid Friendly, Ease of Preparation, Healthy Attributes, Plate Presentation, Taste, Student Chef Presentation to Judges
Counseling Department
In Unit 2 of Second Steps, students are learning to identify and demonstrate how perspective-taking skills influence empathy, their relationships, and their own thoughts and actions. At the end of this unit, students will be able to:
- Ask questions to learn about others' points of view
- Describe another person's point of view about a given question
- Describe how taking someone else's point of view could influence their ow thinking or actions
Try practicing this at home with your child by coming up with some "Would you Rather" questions to explore such as this:
