Elmonica Families,

Thank you so much to the hundreds of parents and students who watched our teacher's Back to School Presentations and participated in the question and answer zoom meetings. We are happy to hear that those presentations helped families feel good about starting this unique school year.

Technology Questions, Answers & Needs

Many parent questions were focused on technology this week. Unfortunately, we also had to cancel pick up appointments today due to air quality.

  • All K-2 students must have an iPad.
  • All 1-2 students with Chromebooks from last spring, please exchange for an iPad.
  • All 3-5 students need a school issued Chromebook.
  • We strongly recommend school equipment for the best apps and tech support.
  • Broken chromebooks can be exchanged by appointment shd@beaverton.k12.or.us.
  • If you have a Chromebook from another Beaverton school, it will work with your student's username and password.
  • If your child does not have technology yet, teachers will be flexible with attendance this next week. Do the best you can.
  • If we do not hear from your student on the first day of school, an Elmonica staff member will contact the family to determine how we can get students connected as soon as possible

Technology Needs & Problems

Please contact the Student Help Desk if your child still needs to pick up an iPad (k-2) or get a chromebook (grades 3-5) and does not have an appointment to pick up today (9/11). Please also contact the help desk if you are having any trouble with the technology.

We are off to an extraordinary start! Students, parents, and staff will all stretch and grow in new and different ways in our virtual approach to teaching and learning this year. We've got this!

Elmonica is a Title I School

Typically, at our Back to School Night presentations we share our annual notice to parents that Elmonica Elementary is a public school that receives Title I funding from the federal government. We receive this aid to employ additional staff members for student learning support, supplemental materials and supplies for students, and ongoing professional development for staff.

In addition, we are required to complete a parent-school compact with the parent/family member at the beginning of the school year and to review progress during scheduled meetings during the school year.

The compact describes the role and responsibility of the school and parent to work in partnership to support their child’s learning and success in school. Please click on the link to complete a google form indicating you have received notice and have viewed the education compact. Thank you for your support.

School Meals

Our Nutrition Services department has developed a plan for providing meals during Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL). We have just received waivers from the USDA which allow any child (age 1-18) to pick up free meals.

  • Parents or guardians may pick up meals for students who are not present.
  • Meal pickups will occur two days per week: Tuesday (2 days of food) and Thursday (3 days of food) from 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Meals will be packaged with breakfast and lunch together.
  • Masks must be worn by anyone picking up meals.
  • Meals can be picked up by driving up to the cafeteria doors @ Elmonica.
