PTA Post
Edition 14
A Note from the President
This is the busiest Post edition since the beginning of the year - we have so many things going on, starting with March - please read through carefully.
Starting this week, the teachers teamed up with the PTA to turn Glengary into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. See the link to the March is Reading Month specific newsletter with all of the information you need to engage in this amazing month of activities.
Our Variety Show is Thursday!! All of our Gator Performers have worked so hard - we wish them the best performances! There are also volunteer opportunities to help with the shows. Particularly, if you don't have a student in the show - the evening performance would be helpful so families can watch their children's act!
Our Spring Flower Sale kicks off this week, as well! See all of the details and links below! I love this fundraiser, it really gives me hope that some warmer (and more predictable) weather is coming our way, soon!
Other things to note:
- The Glengary Staff Volleyball game is March 16th
- The Galactic Gator Team for the Martian Marathon is growing! Sign up and be part of the day! Parents and community members can also sign up for a 5K, 10K or half marathon on that day as well!
- We are in need of donations for our Kindergarten Dexterity Kits - see the link below
- Our Glengary Food Pantry is seeking donations of storage bins to organize the snacks we keep on hand. See the link below for the specific bin, needed.
- Be part of the upcoming events - Glengary Dance Committee is working on plans for the dance in April and our STEAM Night Committee is forming now! See below for more information!
- BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED! We will have several open positions in next years' PTA Board and cannot operate as a PTA without them! Please read below for details!!!
Remember, for every event you volunteer at, you get an entry into the Parent Volunteer Drawing at the end of the year for a fun prize - attend our meetings or a planning meeting, 2 entries....who doesn't love to win?!
As always, we appreciate all of the support from our community! Let's make this a busy but amazing Spring!
Join us for our meeting on March 7 at 6:30 in the media center!

PTA Board Open Positions
Without these positions, our PTA cannot function!
As a Board Member, you are encouraged to attend as many of the Board Meetings and General PTA Meetings as you can (usually the first Tuesday of the month) and chair an event/program (not necessarily on your own) that the PTA sponsors.
We work both together and independently on each of the events and programs depending on availability and need and we touch base in between meetings (usually via text and email) on issues that come up in between.
This PTA is what the Board and its Members make it. If there is something you can do to help - all of our children will benefit!
Vice President
**This will be a great opportunity for someone interested in being President, as it's an excellent way to shadow - next year will be my last in term, unless someone runs for next year**
Legislative Liaison
Social Media Manager
Membership Chair - 1 position open
Reflections Chair - *requirement to remain a PTA*
Our outgoing Chairs did an amazing job adding the creativity nights to our program which helped encourage our students to have the largest participation in GLE history! 3 of our students are going on to the State competition this year!

Green Committee Taking Action!!!
Our Green Committee did it!
After all of the planning, starting gardens and recycling programs and working with the STEAM Committee to set a sustainability theme, we are a Green Certified School.
But we aren't done yet!
Another thing you and your family can do together is a home energy audit. Click on the link below to see how you and your family are using (or wasting ) energy. Reflect on your daily routines with your child(ren) to see how you can make small changes every day to really make a difference!
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!
Waste Free Lunch Challenge
March 1st, 2023
Our Glengary community has been hard at work making changes to help the environment. Students have been taking action to recycle in the cafeteria, conserve water, and turn off lights when leaving a room. As we strive to become a Green Certified School, it is important to teach our kids that even the smallest acts make a difference.
In an effort to promote the green initiative, Glengary students are challenged to bring waste free lunches to school. This means packing sandwiches in reusable bags or sandwich containers, bringing drinks in a reusable cup, utilizing tupperware for snacks (fruits, vegetables, chips, etc.) and packaging everything in a cloth bag or plastic box. The goal is to have empty garbage bins at the end of the day!
March 1st will be our first official waste free lunch challenge. We are hoping that students will take ownership of packing their lunches and use their character strengths of purpose, creativity, and enthusiasm to help eliminate waste in our community. Please help your child prepare for this change; ideas for waste free lunch products are linked below.
Thank you in advance for your help in promoting this project by working with your child to “go green” with our waste free lunch challenge.
LAST CALL FOR PICTURES IS MARCH 20th!!!
Please send your favorite pictures from our events - like the first day of school, homecoming, the Fun Run, the Trunk or Treat, etc, to our yearbook committee!
In years past, yearbooks have been given to all students at no cost to families. These books were provided by Lifetouch, the company contracted to provide school pictures. Unfortunately, due to a significant decline in families purchasing individual student pictures, Lifetouch can no longer offer yearbooks at no charge. Therefore, yearbooks must be ordered ahead of time for a student to receive one at the end of the school year. Ordering a yearbook is simple and can be done by simply clicking on the link below! The cost is $6 per yearbook with options for additional features if desired. Orders are due by April 10, 2023! Thanks for ordering a Glengary yearbook!
Click the button below to order your child's copy of the yearbook!
