Rhodes Middle School
It's Just Starting
As I look back at the memorable year we had as the Partners Class of 2019 at Rhodes Middle School, I can only think of the future that I hope I prepared them for. The camaraderie, adventures, and lessons that we all experienced in room 211, will guide them in their journey to next chapter. Whether it's CAST Med, Lanier, or Brackenridge Early College, Rhodes Partners Class of 2019 is ready for that challenge. The school year is almost over but I know it's just the beginning for them!
6th grade to the Natural Bridge Caverns
We took our 6th graders to Natural Bridge Caverns in early April and they absolutely encored themselves. They were amazed by how deep the caverns go and how long it for water and minerals to make the formations.
Classic Car Exhibit
Community In Schools rewarded a group of students who had been working hard on their assignments and in their attendance to a field trip to the McNay. The students were ecstatic to find out that there was a classic car exhibit with some of the most amazing cars they have ever seen.
McNay
After exploring the McNay and we headed outside and had lunch in their gardens and next to this huge sculpture by Tony Smith.
Rhodes Standout Scholars
Liberty Torres
I feel like Liberty deserves this award because of the effort that she puts in my class. She has the earned the most credits in my class all the while playing every major sport there is and maintaining excellent grades in all her classes. She is a very outgoing student and loves to help others. She is the perfect example of what a MSP student should look like.
Destiny Mares
I strongly feel that Destiny deserves this award. She has shown great dedication towards her classes here at Rhodes, as well as, her courses on Edgenuity. We had a late start in partners but that hasn’t slowed Destiny down. She is been full steam ahead since day one. She always comes in class ready to work without question. She has been a strong leader and helper in the classroom, and she has the graders and credits to back it up. There is no doubt in my mind that Destiny is going to do great things in high school and beyond!
2nd Round of STAAR
I cannot say enough about the hardworking teachers we have here at Rhodes. Our students that missed the mark on the 1st round have been diligently working with their teachers to get the grades they fill they deserve. With STAAR Intervention, our students felt more confident this go around and I can honestly say that everyone of them feels that they did way better than the last time. When I asked them what was the difference this time they said it was the pull outs and block scheduling that gave them more opportunities to have more one to one learning with their teachers.
