Parent Satisfaction Survey - Closes Monday, April 30
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Our Parent Satisfaction Survey offers you an opportunity to reflect on your child’s / children’s school environment. Collecting these data allow us to recognize the good work that many in the district accomplish every day, and to identify gaps in performance that should be addressed. I invite you to access the survey here for an opportunity to provide feedback: Access Survey Here
The survey remains open through April 30. Thank you, Mrs. Goettl
Encourage Your Children to Read through Biblionasium
Dear Parents,
As a school, we are trying to build a culture of reading amongst students. To help with this, we are using Biblionasium as a way for students to track and log their reading, review books, plan for books they want to read in the future and share the books they love with their friends and teachers.
Parental encouragement at home can make a considerable difference in students’ reading success. I would encourage you to become an active part of your child’s reading experience to see what your child is reading, wants to read, and to also promote the love of reading at home.
Biblionasium is an online tool that students can access from any computer or Chromebook with an Internet connection. To access your child’s Biblionasium account and to see what your students are logging in class, please see these Biblionasium Parent Instructions.
Sincerely,
Nick Kotek (District Library Media Specialist)
Staff Appreciation Week
Parents and friends of Cadott Elementary and PACE; we need help for teacher appreciation week. We all know that our teachers are our SUPERHEROES! That is why the week of May 7-11th we are celebrating our favorite SUPERHEROES, our teachers and other staff at Cadott Elementary. Below is our mission information; we already have a fun activity planned and a special gift for the staff. What we are hoping for is an individual or group to get together and 'host' a day:) This means you can either donate the items needed, set them up or just provide the funds and we can make it happen :).
If we all help out, even a little, we can make this week out of this world.
Please let Beth Schneider (through messenger or text) know if you are willing to help out. Thank you in advance!

Healthy Minds: Reducing Screen Time
WHAT COUNTS AS SCREEN TIME?
Screen time includes watching TV, using a cell phone or tablet, working on a computer, or playing video games. Because screen time is a sedentary activity, it can have a negative impact on kids’ overall health. Most American children spend about 3 hours a day watching TV. Add to that time spent on computers and other technology, and this can end up being 5 to 7 hours a day kids are tied to a screen.
All of this screen time can:
· Raise students' risk for attention problems, aggression, anxiety and depression.
· Increase students' risk for gaining too much weight (obesity).
· Make it difficult for kids to sleep at night.
Mission: Healthy Kids has created a shareable fact sheet for you to talk about with your students and send home to their parents. In addition, you can challenge students to look at how much screen time they actually have each day with this downloadable screen time log. There is a new section for families devoted to healthy minds on the Mission: Healthy Kids website with a new screen time video you can share as well. Be sure to check out all of our great resources!
From April 30-May 6, 2018, children, families, entire schools and communities will unplug from digital entertainment and spend all that free time playing, reading, daydreaming, creating, exploring, and connecting. Visit screenfree.org for more information.
