Marysville Middle Wildcats | April 2022
Letter from the Principal
Dear Wildcat Families,
Our school takes pride in and celebrates the diversity of our students, families, staff, and community.
Since the start of this school year, action steps have been taken by the Marysville School District and by Marysville Middle to address concerns related to meeting the needs of each student such as social-emotional and physical safety, addressing inequitable practices, and creating a sense of belonging.
Part of these action steps include hosting “listening sessions” to bring our students, families, staff, and community members together to share their experiences, needs, questions, and concerns. We are committed to actively listening to each of you.
Please join us on Wednesday, April 13th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the MMS Library for our first whole community listening session. If you are unable to attend, a Google Survey is linked below for you to include your feedback. We look forward to your participation with us on this journey as we strive to create a sense of belonging for each student and family we serve.
Warmly,
Mary Ingraham

Listening Session: Wednesday, April 13th 6:00-7:00 MMS Library
Spring Sports: Track and Field
Natural Leaders and Monthly Gatherings
Natural Leaders serve as multi-cultural bridges between students, families, communities, and schools.
At our March Listening Session we learned a lot from all of you who were able to attend and we have begun working on the feedback that you provided. Together we found this time together meaningful and have decided to have monthly listening and collaboration session. Our next gathering will be on April 20th from 6:00 to 7:00 in the MMS Library. During this time we will share the action we have taken given your input as well as collectively set our vision, goals, and next steps towards co-creating the best experience and learning for all students at MMS.
State Assessment: Smarter Balanced Assessment
Now students will be testing at their grade level. The data we gain is helpful to the school to plan future instruction. We will be able to see where students are doing well, and what areas of instruction might need additional information. Additionally, the data helps us to identify different interventions. Testing will take place in the morning with students' first period class. Please make sure your student is well rested and has a good breakfast. As always, we serve breakfast at school for anyone who wants one.
Here is the schedule:
English Language Arts: April 26 & 27, with make-up sessions May 3-5.
Math: May 10 & 12, with make-up sessions May 17-19
Science (8th grade only, and with PAWS class): May 11, with make-up sessions May 17-19
Students will still attend all their classes on test day. If you have any questions, please connect with your student's counselor or Kim Necaise at kim_necaise@msd25.org.
Marysville School District Levies: April 26, 2022
AVID Virtual Career Day: Postponed
2022-2023 Registration
During the week of April 11th to 15th our school counselors will be connecting with students who have not registered for their elective classes for next school year regardless if they are going to Totem Middle, Cedarcrest Middle, or Marysville Middle. Registration is officially closed, however, we are putting forth extra effort to ensure that students have the opportunity to select their preferences.
Application Classes:
We offer a few courses that require acceptance to take the class through an application process. Please find the links to the applications below. AVID is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students while ASB, WEB, and Yearbook are open only to 7th and 8th grade students.
Rising 8th Grade Students:
All of the high schools are scheduling times to come and visit our 8th grade students to work with each student to get them registered for high school classes. The different high schools will be visiting MMS in April to register the incoming 9th grade students.
Attendance Line for Absences
If your student has an appointment during the school day, it will be much easier on you and the student if you let us know as soon as possible. Your student will be given a pass to leave class at the designated time. This can be especially helpful if you need to get your student during lunch time.
