The Senior Statement
October 2018
Fall Break is Nearly Upon Us
It has been an outstanding first quarter of our final year of high school. From spirit days to Riley Week, from college applications to work experience, our seniors are fulling embracing the present as well as their futures.
This Friday, October 5th is the end of the quarter and students and staff have been working hard to get grades in and updated. Thank you for your continued efforts at home to encourage and support your students.
On a personal note, Mr. Poliskie and his family have recently welcomed a new baby girl, Madilyn Grace, to their family. Mrs. Rosebrock will be assisting the team while he is gone. If you have any questions, you may contact Mrs. Rosebrock, Mrs. Mahan, or Mrs. Matherly.
Also, Mrs. Frazer is expecting a daughter near the end of October, and she will be out for the remainder of the semester. The counseling department is working together to support our seniors during this time, and Mrs. Martin, our College and Career counselor is also available to work with all students.
As a team, we appreciate your continued support of your students and efforts to keep them on track as we head towards the finish line into the next chapters of their lives. As always, if there is anything we can do to help please do not hesitate to reach out to the team.
Sincerely,
Adam Poliskie

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher conferences will take place Wednesday October 10th and Thursday October 11th between 4:30 and 8:00pm. If you have not been scheduled to meet with a teacher(s) and desire to do so, please contact the teacher(s) to set up an appointment. Details with teacher names, their room numbers, and which doors to enter will be emailed out early next week. Please ask you student(s) what part of the building your first meeting will be in so you can enter the door closest to the classroom. Doors will be open on the North, East, and South sides of the high school. The conferences will last about 10-15 minutes.

Are You Ready for Life After High School?
Remember to visit this website to log-in to Naviance: https://student.naviance.com/brownhs.
The Naviance Student log-in page can also be accessed from the BHS website under the Quick Links section. Student usernames are their Student ID# and passwords are their 8-digit birthdays (MMDDYYYY).
Here are some additional important reminders:
College Application Checklist & Naviance Instructions
Please click on this link for the College Application Checklist & Naviance Instructions document that was given to you when I met with your English class in early August. This is a very helpful guide as you are completing college applications and can also be found on the Team 2019 website and in Naviance.
Transcript Requests
Students should request their transcript in Naviance for a college AFTER they apply. It is very important they mark the application type when requesting their transcript for the college as well indicate they have submitted the application. If the type is not marked, we cannot send the transcript. Directions on how to request transcripts can be found on Page 4 of the Common Application Checklist & Naviance Instructions document. Please give us time to submit transcripts to a college because we receive many transcript requests daily (a week’s time is a good rule of thumb).
Sending SAT/ACT Test Scores to Colleges
Please remember to log-in to your SAT and/or ACT accounts and have your test scores sent to the colleges for which you plan to submit applications. Most colleges require test scores to be sent from the testing agency and will not accept them off the transcript we send over. Even if you think you had your scores sent when you first registered for the test(s), please log into your accounts to be sure. Do not wait to do this as it can be a while before they are received by the college. Please note that even if a college application asks you to enter them in the application, you still must have them sent from the testing agencies to the college(s).
