Dear Everitt families,

It was a lovely week at Everitt. We enjoyed having recess on the north side of the building and the additional space for our soccer, football, basketball, and four square games. We're so grateful to Wheat Ridge High School for allowing us to use their space and to Dave, our Facilities Manager, and his team for being willing to take on a little extra work to allow us more space to play.

Next week, we will be starting CMAS testing. The schedule for the week is below. Please ensure that your children have fully charged Chromebooks on Monday morning when they arrive at school. They will need to get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast either at home or at school each day. If you would like to opt your child out of testing, please send me an email as soon as possible so that we can make appropriate arrangements for our students.

See below for information from our counselors about how your child can request the electives that they would like next year if they haven't done so already. If your child would like to serve as a teacher's assistant next year, they will need to complete the application in this newsletter for a chance to be selected. We are starting to make schedules for next year and would like to know each student's preferences as we do so.

We are looking forward to a wonderful ukulele and choir concert this evening at Wheat Ridge High School. Ukulele students will perform at 5:30 and choir students will perform at 7:00.

Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It is our privilege to partner with you!

Request Elective Classes Now

This week our current 6th and 7th grade students received information regarding requesting their electives for next year during their current elective classes and intervention classes on Wednesday and Thursday. Students were either provided with the google form link directly or shown how to locate the form on the Everitt counseling webpage (located at the top of the page here: https://sites.google.com/jeffcoschools.us/everitt-schoolcounselors/home ). The counselors will do their best to place students in their requested electives but cannot guarantee elective placement. Any questions can be directed to either Kelsey Cockrell (Kelsey.Cockrell@jeffco.k12.co.us) or Kirsten Aronson (Kirsten.Aronson@jeffco.k12.co.us).

8th Grade Field Trip to Warren Tech

Attention all eighth graders and their families. On the morning of April 7th all Everitt 8th graders will be attending the Warren Tech Field Trip!

Warren Tech is Jeffco's designated career and technical education center that offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to engage in real-world professional projects, earn college credits, credits towards high school graduation, and industry certifications. The Warren Tech field trip is a chance to learn more about Warren Tech and see firsthand all the incredible opportunities that they have to offer Jeffco students.

We are also in need of parent volunteers to chaperone this field trip. If you are interested in chaperoning or have any questions please reach out to our counselors Kelsey Cockrell Kelsey.Cockrell@jeffco.k12.co.us or Kirsten Aronson Kirsten.Aronson@jeffco.k12.co.us

Teacher Assistant Student Application

Students who request to be a Teacher Assistant (TA) for next year will receive a Teacher Assistant Application in their email as a google form the week after spring break. In the google form they will receive more information regarding TA requirements and answer a few questions about why they would be a successful TA at Everitt. Students who fill out a TA application are not guaranteed to be selected as a TA for next year. Students can request to be an office, library, or teacher TA. Once students apply to be a TA the office staff, library staff, and teachers will receive a list of students who have applied to be a TA and will make their selections from there. After TA selections have been made, the counselors will meet with students to schedule accordingly. Any questions can be directed to either Kelsey Cockrell (Kelsey.Cockrell@jeffco.k12.co.us) or Kirsten Aronson (Kirsten.Aronson@jeffco.k12.co.us).
