Greece joined the European Union as the 12th member in 1981. It was not a founding member of the union.
The Flag
The white cross on the flag represents Greek Orthodoxy.
The blue represents the water in Greece, the white being the sea foam in the water.
The blue and white have also been said to represent to beautiful clouds of Greece.
Geography and Location
Greece is located in Southern Europe, between Albania and Turkey. It borders the Aegean, Ionian, and Mediterranean Seas. Some of the physical features are that Greece is a peninsula and Mount Olympus.

Greece has a beautiful, ancient culture. Their are lots of old buildings to visit and many cool artifacts. The Parthenon in Athens is a popular tourist attraction.
