Ants at first
Ants are surprisingly very strong and hard working creatures and play a big role in nature's balance. Today, we will be exploring things about ants that most people aren't interested in because they think that their pesky little creatures.
Food
One characteristic that makes ants one of hardest working insects in the world is that they have to work to make their food. The first step that they take to make their food is that they travel a very long distances and then they cut the leaves with their mandibles and bring the leaves back to the nest. Now, you might think why not just eat the leaves while they are there, but actually they dont eat the leaves directly they use the leves the leaves to make a fungus that they eat.
Strength
A second reason that ants make the list of one of the hardest working insects is that they can lift 100 times their weight. Surprisingly, ants work longer and harder than some of us humans. They work 19 house a day. While ants work 0.85 joules, we would work 13.1 mega joules. Ants have a life commitment, which is that they work until they die.
Sleep
You might think that ants don't sleep at all but they actually take sleep alot. Ants take 250 naps per day, but they are only 1 minutes long. Man, I would love to sleep for that long! Like many other animals, ants sleep standing up.
Ants in the end
As we have all learned today, ants are amazing hard working creatures. I hope that you learned a lot from this journey. See you next time!
