Veterans Day Honored in District 41

Students across the district welcomed and honored veterans on November 11 to say thank you on Veterans Day. The veterans shared stories of their time in the service and students sang to them and celebrated them. Students learned a lot and all veterans were honored. GE Historical Society Visits D41 3rd Graders

History came alive in 3rd grade classrooms at all four of our elementary schools this fall as volunteers from the Glen Ellyn Historical Society brought the students back in time with interactive, in-school presentations. As part of a social studies unit about "School Then vs. Now," the third graders explored similarities and differences in the lives of children growing up in the early days of Glen Ellyn's history with their own experiences. They also had an opportunity to interact with historical artifacts, meet with presenters in period costumes, and generate questions about daily life in the 1800's.
