Jag Journal Parent Newsletter
We are so excited to kick-off the 2022-2023 school year! Our theme for this year is "Glowing and Growing", and we are looking forward to shining a light on all of the amazing students, staff, events, and learning happening at VRE.
All signs point to another incredible and productive school year. Our skilled and devoted staff is already planning and preparing for your children. Our enthusiastic office team is registering new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the building. And our much-appreciated PTA is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs.
In the coming weeks, you will hear more from me about LISD and VRE's focus on Community Engagement with proactive and positive communication, including Communication Commitments we will uphold to continue our partnerships with families and productive processes when navigating concerns. You may have already seen the new LISD logos #OneLISD! Be sure to like us on Facebook for pictures, announcements, updates, and more!

Message from LISD: Parents - We are working diligently this year to ensure we tighten up our safety and security measures. LISD is asking that only parents of PreK and Kindergarten walk their students into school the first day. We will be able to secure this small section of the school for those first time students. All returning students will be welcomed by staff members, and we will have wonderful photo opportunities outside the school for a 1st day. In addition, we would encourage you to attend our Meet the Teacher events to allow your child to know what classroom they will be going to on the first day. If you are unable to attend, reach out to our office staff, and they will be happy to show you the classroom. LISD is wanting to ensure all students are safe, and since we would not be able to properly check in all visitors that day, we are asking that you follow these guidelines.
- August 4: Popsicles in the Park for PreK and Kindergarten
- August 9: Meet the Teacher, 7:30 am- 8:30 am
- August 10: First Day of School- doors open at 7:15, school starts at 7:45
Visitors can begin coming for lunch starting Tuesday, September 6th.
- We have space for two families per grade per day.
- Families will only be able to come once per month.
If you would like to have lunch with your child, please email our Office Clerk, Paulina Ramirez (firstname.lastname@example.org) to sign up. At least one person in the group must have Voly clearance to sign up.
If your child forgets their lunch at home, you can bring it to the front office. Please drop off ALL lunches by 10:30 a.m. We will not be able to accept third party food delivery for students.
