Dear Parents,

We are so excited to kick-off the 2022-2023 school year! Our theme for this year is "Glowing and Growing", and we are looking forward to shining a light on all of the amazing students, staff, events, and learning happening at VRE.

All signs point to another incredible and productive school year. Our skilled and devoted staff is already planning and preparing for your children. Our enthusiastic office team is registering new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the building. And our much-appreciated PTA is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs.

In the coming weeks, you will hear more from me about LISD and VRE's focus on Community Engagement with proactive and positive communication, including Communication Commitments we will uphold to continue our partnerships with families and productive processes when navigating concerns. You may have already seen the new LISD logos #OneLISD! Be sure to like us on Facebook for pictures, announcements, updates, and more!

Thank you to all who are helping prepare for the new school year. Your commitment to ensuring that Valley Ridge remains a celebrated and successful school is much appreciated. I eagerly look forward to greeting students and families again. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal. Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all children.

School Supplies

If you ordered a school supply kit from EPI, they will be delivered to your child's class by the first day of school. If you did not order a kit, please use the supply lists below to prepare your child for the first day of school.

First Week of School Information UPDATED 7/27

  • The first day of school is Wednesday, August 10th.
  • UPDATE: Parents of students in PreK and Kindergarten will be the only parents allowed to walk their children to class on the first day of school. This is a district-wide policy.
  • Doors open for students at 7:15 a.m.
  • School starts at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 3:25 p.m.

Message from LISD: Parents - We are working diligently this year to ensure we tighten up our safety and security measures. LISD is asking that only parents of PreK and Kindergarten walk their students into school the first day. We will be able to secure this small section of the school for those first time students. All returning students will be welcomed by staff members, and we will have wonderful photo opportunities outside the school for a 1st day. In addition, we would encourage you to attend our Meet the Teacher events to allow your child to know what classroom they will be going to on the first day. If you are unable to attend, reach out to our office staff, and they will be happy to show you the classroom. LISD is wanting to ensure all students are safe, and since we would not be able to properly check in all visitors that day, we are asking that you follow these guidelines.

Important Dates:

  • August 4: Popsicles in the Park for PreK and Kindergarten
  • August 9: Meet the Teacher, 7:30 am- 8:30 am
  • August 10: First Day of School- doors open at 7:15, school starts at 7:45
