Graduation Update - Class of 2020
Dear PfISD Graduates and Families,
PfISD staff is still working fast and furiously to get all the details complete for our Graduation ceremonies scheduled to begin Monday. Below you will find a Graduation Information Packet (PDF) outlining rules and procedures for all graduation ceremonies. Please take the time to read the document entirely in preparation for your special day - especially this year which will have many firsts for us, particularly taking into account the required physical distancing.
Once again, we have many rules and requirements set forth by the state for us to hold an in-person graduation, and we are counting on all parties involved - graduates and their families - to help us by following the rules set forth in the attached document. One major change for this year is the limited number of guests allowed per student. Please remember that we are doing a seating chart in the stands which must be followed and as such, tickets are not transferable. Additionally, everyone attending must have a ticket to enter the stadium - regardless of their age (this includes infants and toddlers). The seating chart is available in the PDF below.
Once again, thank you for your help and understanding as we all work to provide a wonderful, in-person graduation experience for our seniors and their families. It will take all of us to ensure we can pull it off!
Pflugerville ISD
To 2020 Seniors from our Counseling Staff
Class of 2020 Seniors,
We are so proud of what you have accomplished and what you will continue to accomplish. Life is hard and not always easy or fair, and will throw a curve ball at you when you really don’t need one, as this year has shown us; but if you can pick yourself up, figure out how to make it through, you will survive! If you can make it through the end of senior year working from home with no previous experience doing this, you have a great start on accomplishing all that life holds for you.
The PHS Counseling Team is beyond proud of you and we are so glad we got to work with you along the way. Please know, once a Panther, always a Panther. If you need anything after you leave PHS, we are just an email or phone call away.

Information for Seniors - from our College and Career Counselor
Good Afternoon Seniors –
Congratulations! You are almost there . Below are some final reminders from the College and Career Center and updates on Graduation. Please read (and complete if necessary) every item carefully.
Final High School Transcript (Survey) – Pflugerville High School does need to certify graduation before we can release a Final High School Transcript. We hope to have these ready by Mid-Late June. Please make sure to submit the mandatory Final High School Transcript Survey. This is due by June 5th, 2020. If your plans change, you can resubmit a response and we will use your most recent response.
New Scholarship Opportunity (Class of 2020) – The Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce has opened their 2020 Scholarship Application! Please make sure you to fill out the application by June 14th, 2020. You can find the application by visiting this website.
Changing College Plans – If you are thinking about changing your plans for the Fall 2020 semester, please set up a time to meet with me. In some cases, changing from a 4 year college to a 2 year college could actually cost more money in the long run if you were offered certain opportunities by the college. There also some great resources he can share if you end up continuing that change.
June 1st Graduation Information – Please visit this website for the most up to date information regarding graduation. Including ticket information, the new senior contract, etc. Any questions regarding the graduation ceremony should be emailed to Ms. Keck (Crystal.Keck@pfisd.net).
Austin Community College Enrollment – Please make sure that you have submitted your TSI and High School Transcript to ACC. If you have not, please email me. You will need to set up an advising appointment by visiting this website to enroll in classes for the Fall Semester. Keep in mind that it may take some time for ACC to award you with Financial Aid. Finally, please consider applying to the Capital Idea Scholarship. It can help you fund your Austin Community College education!
Military/Workforce – Please check in with your military recruiter to make sure you are all set to enlist. If you still need to connect with your recruiter, please visit this website to find your specific recruiter. This website can also help you find careers in the workforce that might assist you with your goals.
Breaking Up With A College/University – I strongly encourage you to email any school that you have applied to, but no longer plan to attend. In this email, please kindly thank them for their time but let them know you are no longer interested. Colleges will begin calling you over the summer to enroll at their institution. This will save the admission counselor (and you) time!
Please remember that I am always here for you. I will be reaching out this summer periodically to make sure you are on track for whatever might be next in the Fall. If you ever need any help from me (whether that be now or 5 years down the road), please reach out. You all are going to do amazing things and I know that everyone at PHS will miss you (Including me)! Good luck and keep in touch!

Parent Climate Survey
We are asking parents to take a brief survey to tell us about their experience with their student’s campus to ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career. We are asking families to complete the survey before it closes tonight (May 29).
Summer Meal Services
Pflugerville Independent School District and Aramark Food Services are proud to offer curbside meals to children this summer through the USDA summer meals program.
Summer is an exciting time for children to enjoy playtime with friends, a week at camp, a family vacation, or time at the pool. However, for many children who receive free and reduced-price meals at school, summer can mean hunger. Just as learning doesn’t end when school lets out, neither does a child’s need for good nutrition.
This summer, Aramark Food Services will be providing free curbside meals to children at select Pflugerville ISD campuses Monday through Friday with two meal services 8-9 a.m. or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Friday, May 29 through Tuesday, Aug. 11. All children under 18 are eligible to receive free meals and do not need to register (or be registered in a summer school program) or show proof of age, income, or residence to do so.
Click here for more information on this program.
Family Engagement Survey
Dear Families,

We want to know what you think.
The survey will close tonight (May 29th). Click Here for Survey

STAAR EOC Courses - Important Information (English & Español)
Dear Parents,
I wanted to check in and give you some information about STAAR EOC testing for the school year 2019-2020.
If your student is enrolled in a STAAR tested subject this school year, this email will pertain to them. STAAR tested subjects include English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology, and U.S. History.
Per TEA (Texas Education Agency):
- There will be no STAAR EOC administrations for both spring 2020 and summer 2020. These administrations have been waived by TEA.
- A student currently enrolled in a STAAR EOC class who is a first-time tester for the corresponding STAAR EOC is not required to take and pass the STAAR EOC as long as the STUDENT PASSES THE COURSE by August of 2020.
Please discuss this with your student and advise them of the importance of the Distance Learning assignments. These MUST be completed so that the grade they receive for this 4th nine weeks does not affect their ability to pass a STAAR tested subject. If they fail the class, they will repeat the class AND take the STAAR test for that class. Any questions please reach out to me.
Dr. Sara Butler
Assistant Principal: Testing/Intervention
