Dear Parents,
The online version of this newsletter may be found at https://www.smore.com/kcktd.
Welcome back everyone!
Please join me in congratulating this week’s Staff Member of the Week first grade teacher Mrs. Heninger.
Thank you to student council members Paula Carpenter, Leah Clay, Alexis Cravatt, Mariah Debose, Faith Murray. Daniel Price, and Macie Steer for representing Mitchell by leading the Pledge of Allegiance at the March 21st Board of Trustees meeting last night.
We will have our March Awesome Job Store this Wednesday and Thursday during lunches. First, second, and third graders will go on Wednesday and kindergarten, fourth graders, and fifth graders will go on Thursday. Don’t forget that school is closed this Friday, March 25th.
STAAR testing is right around the corner with the fourth grade Writing test on March 29th and fifth grade Math and Reading tests on March 29th and 30th. We will have modified lunch and specials schedules for all students on testing days so that we can get those students who are testing fed first and so that all classes can have some specials time. There will also be a special lunch menu for our students taking STAAR tests next week. On Tuesday, March 29th our STAAR testers will have a corn dog, baby carrots with ranch dressing, tater tots, an apple, and milk. On Wednesday, March 30th our STAAR testers will have a cheeseburger, ranch style beans, sandwich trimmings, an apple, and milk. Pizza will be be an option for all students buying lunch next Friday, April 1st.
In addition, School Nutrition Services will be offering free breakfast to ALL ELEMENTARY STUDENTS on March 29th and 30th. Although breakfast is free, students will need to scan their id or punch in their id number at the cashier.
I want to share again that PTO board meetings are open to ALL parents and all parents are not only invited to, but encouraged to attend. The PTO is your organization and your involvement in the school has a direct impact on your child’s academic progress and love of school. Attending a PTO meeting doesn’t obligate you to do anything extra. It does however give you an opportunity to learn and ask questions about both the school and school activities. The next PTO meeting is on April 4th at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in one of the rooms adjoining the main office.
Please see the calendar on the next page for additional upcoming events and thank you for your continued support of your child's education.
Sincerely,
John Rokenbrod
