Red Devil Reflections

December 16

Today's Shin-Dig

I look forward to the fellowship this afternoon (4-6pm). The Durand Mill Clubhouse is super close to DHHS. From Haygood, turn left onto N. Decatur Road, but make sure to get into your right lane, because Durand Drive is the next right turn. The clubhouse is near the intersection of Durand Drive and Grist Stone Ct. (you'll see the basketball courts and pool).

We will still need a few people to assist with clean-up after the festivities. Thank you for your consideration (shouldn't take more than 20 minutes).

Fire Drill Thursday (12/17) During 2nd Period

Don't forget about the Holiday treats Friday morning (Thank you Counseling Team)!

Ms. Aronoff

Please keep Ms. Aronoff in your thoughts and prayers. She recently had an accident at home and is currently recovering from her injuries. Fortunately, she will recover fully (no serious injury), but we have definitely missed her presence.

Supplemental Retirement 2% Match Program

The December 10 DCSD NewsFlash announced the re-establishment of the district's matching program for retirement accounts. Under this program, the BOE will contribute 2% of an employee’s base salary into a 403(b) account held with one of the four BOE approved optional Investment and Retirement Providers for employees who meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time employees who have completed at least five (5) years of full-time continuous employment after January 1, 2011 AND
  • Contribute to Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) or Employees’ Retirement System of Georgia (ERS)AND
  • Invest at least 2% of their base salary into one (1) 403(b) account with one of the four BOE approved optional Investment and Retirement Providers.

During Tuesday's Mid-Year Conferences, a few of you had some questions regarding the program. Jason Sellew of Valic will be at Druid Hills tomorrow (12/17) during all lunches in the Main Building Teacher Lounge to answer any questions you have about retirement accounts.

Mid-Year Conference Makeup Session

If you have not participated in Tuesday's Mid-Year Evaluation Conferences, the make-up meeting has been scheduled for 7:45am Friday, 12/18 in the Theatre. Contact Ms. Cunningham if you have any significant scheduling conflicts.
