News in Second Grade
Remember to check your child's folder each night. When we send home completed work, it is put in the back pocket (stay at home) and when we have notes from the office or us, we usually put them in the front pocket so that you see them when you open the folder. Even though the pocket says "Bring back to school," we do not want them back unless it is something that you are to fill out and return to school.
Homework for the week of September 6th - 11th
Your child's homework is posted in your child's ROCKET folder. Homework will be given to the students on Friday and then it is due by the following Friday.
Homework for this upcoming week is as follows:
- Reading – at least 20 minutes nightly to help develop reading fluency and comprehension. Your child will need to write down the title of the book or chapter he or she read on the reading log which can be found in the READING POUCH in the ROCKET folder. Then parents/guardian will need to initial in the box each day your child read for at least 20 minutes. Also have them answer questions or tell you about what they read.
Math – September Monthly Math Booklet - Days 6-10
Spelling - Study spelling word pattern and complete at least 2 activities. Your child needs to practice them every night.
Math - Ways to Make 10
We would really like for the students to work on memorizing the Ways to Make 10 math facts. Below you will find a link to a game that is really fun that works on numbers that add together to make the sum of 10.
Hopefully, your child is starting to feel more successful with understanding how to make10. When he/she is ready, move onto looking at doubles facts and near doubles. (5+5=10 so, 5+6=11)
Learning Through Technology
We are starting Raz-Kids this week with your children. They will be bringing home their login information. We hope that your child is enjoys reading the books on Raz-Kids. Reading is such an important of each and every day. Remember that your child needs to read at least 20 minutes each night.
