6th Grade Band Informance
Part 1 will be a clinic, where a parent is required to be there. Parents, you'll sit next to your musician and learn more about band from the same side of the music stand as your musician.
Part 2 is the performance. The performance will take place in the gym and is open to ALL family and friends. The kids really love performing and the bigger our audience, the better they play! We are so excited to showcase this ensemble!
NOTE: The Black & White concert attire is required for this performance.

10 Tips to Being a Supportive Band Parent
- Ask your musician what he or she did in band today.
- Provide a place in your home and set a regular time to practice each day.
- Check your band student's homework assignments: ask him/her to name the notes for you; ask him/her to show you the fingerings; ask him/her to count or clap the rhythms for you.
- Encourage your musician to play his/her instrument for you and let him/her know how proud you are of his/her work.
- Make sure your musicians has all the necessary supplies: reeds, valve oil & slide grease, instrument cleaning supplies, mallets or drumsticks, music book and a pencil. Reeds: 3 functioning reeds in the case at all times. It is more cost effective to purchase reeds by the box.
- Make sure your musician's instrument is in good working condition. If you are unsure, ask your child's band teacher to check it.
- Look into the possibility of giving your band student private lessons on his/her instrument.
- Attend all school band events.
- Take your musician to band concerts at the middle school, high school, in the community and professional groups, such as the symphony.
- Listen to music at home.
