Raider Update
A Weekly eNewsletter from Hastings Public Schools
Message from the Superintendent
Good afternoon Raider Families,
One more week until spring break. With winter sports coming to an end, this is a great time to again take a look at school calendars to ensure you are in the loop. In talking with the staff, there seems to be consensus that the blended model of conferences, allowing for both in-person and virtual options, is a successful model. Please provide any feedback to your building principals about your experience, so we can continue to be as accommodating as possible.
At the school board meeting last week, we shared updates regarding progress on our strategic plan and how we are working toward aligning our work to support the Desired Daily Experiences with our Mission, Vision, and Core Values. You can access the Strategic Planning documents on our website.
Finally, I want to continue focusing on mental and chemical health with our students. Please continue to have conversations and reach out to your building if you have any questions or need support.
We continue to track our COVID numbers at the building levels. However, given the extremely low numbers again, this will be the last weekly update for building numbers.
HS - 1 student
MS - 3 students
MEL - 2 students
There will not be a Raider Update leading into spring break. The next Raider Update will come out on Sunday, March 20.

Alisha Brown March Rotary Student of the Month
Alisha Brown is the Rotary Student of the Month! Alisha is a dedicated student-athlete who has demonstrated grit, determination, and leadership during her time at Hastings High School. Throughout her four years, she has participated in soccer and lacrosse and has added a new sport, wrestling, during her senior year.
Alisha Brown is an incredible young lady. Her nominator had the following to share about Alisha. "Already a multisport athlete, she had the courage to try a new sport in the winter of her senior year. A sport that has been predominantly a male sport until recently. Now it is an MSHSL sponsored sport in its inaugural season. Alisha has embraced the challenge without hesitation. Each day she comes to practice with a smile and a burning desire to learn. She is the picture of the two keys to success in life: a positive attitude and a great work ethic. Even though she is in her first year, she has been a great role model to our five freshmen girls. She takes on a warrior mentality when the whistle blows to start the match. When the match ends, she is always there for others. Her fun-loving personality has helped the other girls through challenging times. The spark she brings each day is truly contagious and has benefited our entire program."
Congratulations Alisha!
