I am very proud of our Butternut Community for the respectful transition to masks being optional this week and moving forward. We spent time in all of our classrooms doing morning meeting lessons about respecting everyone's choice to mask or not mask. As our district communicated last week, we are still following the many health and safety measures in place all year. Here is what we are continuing to do:
- Physical distancing of 3 feet apart in classrooms to the extent possible
- Students eating in classroom cohorts, socially distanced at our tables with seating charts to limit the number of students who are in close proximity to one another
- Frequent handwashing and hand sanitizing
- Airflow and circulation units providing necessary air exchanges per hour to individual areas
- Students and staff following the Too Sick for School guidelines (English or Spanish)
- The ability to COVID test staff and students (with parent/guardian permission) who exhibit symptoms at school
- If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they will be asked to isolate at home for at least five days. They may return to school once they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without the aid of medication and other symptoms are improving.

Warmest regards,

Announcements & Info
- Neighborhood communication--please help us spread the word to neighbors that our campus is closed during the school day (7:15-2:15). We recently have seen an increase in people walking across our campus and playing with their dogs in the field during the school day. For safety reasons, this is not allowed. They are welcome to use the field after school hours and on the weekends. Thank you!
Fentanyl Warning Response to PPS Incident--please click HERE for the HSD communication that was sent out on March 9th about this extremely dangerous presence in our community.
Vermont Hills Family Life Center is hiring!--Do you love working with kids? Click HERE for more information.
Social Media and Kids--We have seen an increase in the amount of elementary-aged students using social media and struggling with making good choices with it. Many students need support with using better judgement and limits on what they have access to. The following links from Common Sense Media have some great information on how to keep your child safe and responsible when using technology, social media and various apps.
