CHS Choir Update #4
A Weekly Newsletter for Friends & Family of the CHS Choir
Greetings CHS Choir Family!
Happy Homecoming Week, Spartans!
Thank you for an incredible first three weeks of school. Students in both learning environments have been demonstrating growth in both confidence and skills. Your hard work and perseverance are to be commended. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the semester holds for our journey together.
Please be sure to check out the rest of this week's newsletter to learn more about upcoming events and opportunities to become more involved in the life and mission of our program.
As always, please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of assistance to you or your student in any way.
I look forward to seeing each of you very soon!

Fall Pledge Drive Information
This Year's Pledge Drive will help us achieve the following:
- Our BUDGET GOAL is $10,000 and allows us to fulfill basic program needs for the year, including performance support, educational materials, clinics, and support the distribution of scholarship and financial aid.
- Our WISH LIST GOAL is $12,500 and allows us to cover all of the basics AND supports our ability to provide for end-of-year activities (awards banquets and post-contest celebrations) at NO COST to the students.
- Helping us reach our DREAM GOAL is $15,000 would provide for all of the above AND enable us to support our students in our auxiliary groups to TRAVEL FOR FREE to their contests in the spring.
More information about this year's pledge drive, student incentives, and how you be a part of helping us reach our goals will be distributed on Wednesday, Sept. 24th.
Letter Jacket Fitting Info
Letter jacket packets were distributed to students having completed their fourth year as a member of the CHS Choir Program or having earned the required number of points during the previous school year. Those virtual learners who have not received their packets are asked to contact Mr. Cooley to coordinate a pickup time this week.
Fittings will take place during school on October 1st (4th period through 9th period). Virtual students will need to make arrangements to come to school to complete this process during one of these class periods.
The Booster Club will cover the cost of the Jacket and/or Letter for qualifying students. All other decorations and upgrades will be the responsibility of the student.
All-State Sectionals Continue This Week
The All-State Choir audition process is an annual competition hosted each year by TMEA to encourage and empower students that wish to pursue advanced levels of music-making outside of the traditional choir classroom experience. Sectionals to support students in their learning continue this week on Tuesday and Thursday after school. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend. Need music or want to learn more about this process? Contact Mr. Cooley today!
Late and/or Missing Work
Communication regarding late work and low academic averages was sent home on Friday afternoon to all students missing 3 or more assignments and/or those students possessing an average lower than a 70 in Choir.
The main reason for low academic averages is missing work. In almost all cases students were provided adequate time to complete assignments and/or return their work during class. As stated in my initial email, I am willing to extend opportunities for credit for any assignment still missing in your account through the weekend, however, work must be received prior to returning to school on Monday in order to be eligible for credit. Students can view missing and past due assignments in their Schoology accounts.
With only five weeks in this grading period, students are asked to be especially mindful of all due dates and deadlines for classroom work and activities, in Choir and their core classes.
Thank you for your time, attention, and support in these matters.
