REPORT CARDS CAME HOME TODAY, MARCH 11TH!
1st and 2nd Graders are Collaborating & Creating Using Technology Too!!
FIT stands for Future of Instruction and Technology. The CUSD200 FIT guide is a set of best practices in instruction that we use as a guide in creating learning environments for our students. We are striving for our students to be able to access, synthesize, and share knowledge while collaborating and creating anytime, anywhere. The use of technology is not the only way to accomplish these goals, but can certainly be an effective and engaging instructional tool. Read here for more about CUSD200 FIT.
Teachers are using technology provided by the district and PTA to transform student learning experiences. Here are just a few examples from recent classroom projects:
1st grade teacher Beth Miller started implementing "Genius Hour" on Fridays when she learned about Google's "20% time" philosophy. Google allows their employees to spend 20% of their time working on a task of their choice as long as the work benefits Google. Mrs. Miller is giving her students time each Friday afternoon to discover the answers to any questions they have - as long as they are reading, writing, and creating along the way! This week, they researched and wrote about their favorite foods, then used Adobe Voice to present the information. Next week, they will begin exploring a wide array of topics from leprechauns to becoming a doctor. Watch Mrs. Miller's class's Favorite Food Adobe Voice.
2nd grade teacher Lea Russelle's students read biographies and then used ChatterPix to demonstrate what they learned. Enjoy their video below!
