Volume 2, Week 11
Hard to believe only one week has passed and there is already so much to update. Most importantly, our parent-teacher conference scheduler will be opening soon. Our teachers are eager to meet with you during our annual Parent Teacher Conferences. This year, conferences are scheduled for November 20 and 21. Students will not attend school on these days.
As in the past, the district will be using the online Parent-Teacher Conference Scheduler in Skyward Family Access. The system will allow you to schedule with the teachers you want, at times that are convenient for you. Click on this link to watch a 1-minute video on using the Parent-Teacher Conference scheduler.
To schedule a conference, log in to your Family Access account which can be found on the D60 website.
Monday, November 20th from 1:00pm - 8:00pm
Tuesday, November 21st from 8:00am - 3:00pm.
To accommodate the different needs of our community, you will have the option of selecting an in-person or virtual parent teacher conference on either day. This is different from previous years and will be done in Skyward.
A few important points:
The scheduler will open at 8:30 am on November 10 and close at 10:00 pm on November 16.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate changes to the schedule after the window closes on November 16. This is to ensure teachers have adequate time to prepare for your conference.
Early Childhood conferences are scheduled for 20 minutes.
Grades Kdg-2 conferences are scheduled for 25 minutes.
Grades 3-5 conferences are scheduled for either 15 or 25 minutes based on whether your child sees one or two teachers for ELA and math.
Grades 6-8 conferences are scheduled for 8 minutes.
If you have a child at Westview Hills, teachers will request a conference if one is needed for your child. All parents are welcome to schedule with a teacher.
Students will be included in conferences and should join parents.
If you choose a virtual conference, teachers will communicate how to access the Microsoft Teams link.
If you are unsure what your Skyward Family Access password is, click the Forgot Your Login/Password? link. You will be asked to enter your email address. If it matches the email the district has on file, you will be sent an email containing your Login ID and a link that can be used to reset your password.
The teachers look forward to meeting with you!
We believe outdoor recess is an important and valuable part of our students’ day. Fresh air, exercise and time spent outside afford students a break from the structure of the classroom. Most importantly, teachers agree students perform best at school when they have an opportunity for vigorous outdoor play, so we try to get them out whenever possible. As we begin to get into the colder months, we want to remind parents/guardians that unless conditions are unsafe, we will continue to have outdoor recess. We encourage parents to send their children with gloves, hats, scarves and jackets to be prepared for being outside in the cold weather.
There will be times when it is not safe for children to be outdoors, or for outdoor time to be limited. Factors considered in determining outdoor safety are:
Temperature/Wind Chill: when temperatures fall below 13 degrees, including wind chill, children will be inside.
Precipitation: rain, hail, snow, freezing rain
Length of time outdoors
Medical reasons (doctor’s notes with restrictions)
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the school.
Thank you for your cooperation,
