Superintendent's Newsletter
November 2019
Dear MUSD Community,
How did we already get to November? We are now in our twelfth full week of school and our students and staff are doing amazing things across the district. As we welcomed in November, we certainly sent October out with a bit too much excitement. First and foremost, I want to acknowledge and thank our local first responders and their families. From the Martinez Police Department sending officers to support Sonoma County, to our local FireFighters protecting our community while supporting the work in the North Bay, on behalf of all our community I offer thanks and gratitude for your service.
I would also like to take a moment and give a huge shout-out to our MUSD staff! Through uncertainty of power, variable air quality conditions, an unprecedented string of Red Flag Warnings, wildfires in the North Bay, spot fires in the East Bay, and remarkable wind conditions, our staff was present and ready to support our students. It is especially noted that our staff also had family and loved ones to care for, including addressing their own personal health and safety needs, while still being a element of strength for our students. I am grateful for the focus and commitment to our students demonstrated by all MUSD staff last week. Thank you to all our amazing staff members! Thanks also goes to our families for being involved and committed to the safety and success of our students. It is a great honor and responsibility to care for the safety of your child(ren) and we thank you for trusting MUSD.
As safety remains at the forefront of our minds, I’d like to take a moment and remind all of our community members that we can work together to improve student safety by ensuring we drive very carefully around all school zones. This includes being at or under the speed limit, not having any phones out or other related distractions, and of course watching closely for children traveling to and from school. Thank you taking these reminders to heart as we travel through our community.
You have got to check out all the other great news below! Did you know...
