Principal Message
Dear Lane Families,
I want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful to work with your children every day. I really could not image not being a part of Lane and the great things I get to be a part of every day. I enjoy the interactions that I have with you and the West Allis community.
Come and support our first musical Madagascar Jr. opening night is November 29th @ Hale.
I hope to see you at there.

8th Grade Career Fair
Monday November 19, 2018
8:00 - 10:00 am
Lane is excited to announce we will be running our second annual Career Fair on Monday November 19 from 8:00 to 10:00 am. We will again be using an arena-style format in our auxiliary gym with 8th graders visiting tables and gathering information about various careers.
This is where we need your help. Last year, we had many Lane parents volunteer their time and share their careers with our students. We are looking for professionals in any field to participate in the Career Fair. Please contact one of us if you can volunteer or if you know of someone that we should contact. Thank you so much.

Global - Future Cities
6th grade Global has been given the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Future Cities Competition. We will be working on this during class time in both Balanced Literacy and Science.
There are multiple components to this competition. Students will create a virtual city in SimCity, write a City Essay, create a City Model and City Presentation, as well as create a Project Plan to do throughout.
We will be doing an in-house competition in January. The two teams that win the in-house competition will move on to regionals. Regionals competition will be on Saturday, January 26th, 2019. Students will need transportation to the competition. If students win at regionals, they will have the opportunity to compete at nationals in D.C.
For the City Model, students should be collecting items from home, such as plastic containers, boxes, etc. that they think that they can use in their city.
For more information on Future Cities, feel free to check out the website: https://futurecity.org/
