Math
This week students finished their Stats unit working on ways to show data and interpret data. The Stats quiz has been posted and I have set a due date of Tuesday May 19. Students have been assigned 6 assignments and 2 assessments this term. Please make sure to check your students grades on Skyward, I have updated all work that I have received to this point.
Next week we will not be having any new assignments or quizzes assigned but all missing work can still be completed and turned in. If you would like to redo any assignment please let me know and I can re-open it. The final day for submitting assignments will be May 21. Please check student's grades on Skyward, everything that has been turned in has been updated.
I am very proud of all of you for making it through this term and the school year. Thanks for an awesome year!
Mr. Schinstock
Language Arts
This week we began our new unit over The Story of Ceres and Proserpina. This is a classical mythology story and we will continue it for the remainder of the year. Next week we will be focusing on vocabulary terms from the story as well as cause and effect.
Please check your student's grades on Skyward. We currently have 3 daily work grades and 1 assessment grade in the grade book. Everything that has been turned in at this time is graded and recorded. I will be adding the iReady grade from Friday (May 8) in the grade book on Monday morning.
If you have any questions please reach out via email: amandariley@usd475.org.
Have a great weekend!
Science
Hey Wildcats!
This Week: Students finished the rest of their assignments for this school year in Science! In skyward your student should have eight science grades by this time: 6 daily work grades and 2 assessment grades. If students need help please have them contact me or visit during office hours. Sixth Grade Science has live office hours every school day from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The link to join live office hours is below the Live Time link in our science course.
Next week: There will be no more additional assignments, but all late work can still be submitted. Grade cutoff for any missing work is May 21. If you would like to redo any former assignments you still can. There will still be live class sessions.
I proud of you and I believe in you! Thank you for an amazing school year.

Enrollment is open for next year!
Enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year is now open!
Enrollment Information:
Online enrollment for new and returning students is now open. If your student is currently enrolled in the district, please log into your Skyward Family Access account and choose the option for completing returning student registration for each active kiddo. If you do not know your Family Access log in information, please contact your school secretary/registrar or email kristinegates@usd475.org or rachelmoore@usd475.org.
If your student is transitioning from 5th grade into one of our middle schools, or going into the 9th grade, please be sure and choose the registration link for the school they will attend in the Fall, not the school they’re currently enrolled in.
If your child transfers into a school outside their assigned school boundaries, you will receive a transfer request form via postal mail before the end of May.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your school’s secretary/registrar or email kristinegates@usd475.org or rachelmoore@usd475.org.
The full information for enrollment can be found here: http://www.usd475.org/online-enrollment/
How to request a transfer:
We wanted to share with everyone the transfer process beginning the 20-21 school year. In the past, transfer forms were distributed by buildings and were returned to buildings for approval. This year, the Devin Center will mail transfer forms from the district office, starting at the end of May and will ask that they be returned to the Devin Center for processing.
If you are new to the district, or have a student that is not currently a transfer student, please contact the building secretary and they will notify the Devin Center who will then mail a transfer form to the family.
The full information for the transfer process may be found here: http://www.usd475.org/transfer-request/

VIRTUAL STEM SUMMER CAMP at KSU
Last week I received information from KSU that they have opened registration for their virtual summer camp. This year's camp will be open to the first 100 people who sign up; other interested participants will be placed on a waiting list. Registration closes on May 22. Click here for more information. There is also a FAQ form attached. Below is the information I received:
These Summer Workshops are designed to be exploration events that expose and increase girls' interest in STEM disciplines. From June 1-5, K-State faculty, staff and students will lead live interactive sessions such as hands-on activity demonstrations, lab tours, career chats and more. KAWSE staff will also provide daily interactions, such as morning/afternoon check-ins and a few fun (optional) afternoon activities like trivia night. From June 6-12, pre-recorded camp materials will be accessible for students to browse at their own pace. We'll be using Canvas and Zoom as our platforms, both of which can be accessed using a computer, tablet or smart phone.
There are scholarships available to cover the cost of student registrations. This funding is made possible thanks to the support of our partners, so it is limited. However, we anticipate being able to cover the cost of all students who register. Anyone who wishes to participate to submit their name for consideration. Use the following link to register for the event: https://kstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_803N0qAm94Kr5VX.
Questions about the virtual camp can be sent to the KAWSE staff at kawse@ksu.edu
