Magnolia Soap Box Derby

Gravity Racing Challenge

Cheer on High Schools as They Compete in 2nd Annual Gravity Racing Challenge!

Wear your school spirit T-shirts and join us downtown on Saturday, April 9, as students from each of Bibb’s high schools compete in the Magnolia Soap Box Derby’s Gravity Racing Challenge! Will last year’s winner, Westside High School, roll into a second victory this year, or will a different school claim the title? Join us Saturday to cheer on your high school team and support Bibb students as they put their engineering skills to the test!

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Educational Collaborative is a partnership between the Magnolia Soap Box Derby, Middle Georgia State University and the Bibb County School District, courtesy of grant funds from the Knight Neighborhood Challenge, a project of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia. As part of the initiative, which is in its second year, student teams from each high school in the District - and a few other counties - were provided with kits to build their own soap box cars. Watch them put their cars to the test during a special race prior to the Magnolia Soap Box Derby.
