Tornado Forecast of Upcoming Events
April 17th: Late start and advisory for students.
- School begins for students at 8:30 am.
- Student transportation will operate under normal timelines.
- Students who arrive before 8:20, will be required to stay in the cafeteria, the main lobby, or the library to work on class assignments quietly.
April 24th: MCA Testing for students in 10th & 11th Grade.
- Remote Learning Day for students in 9th and 12th Grade.
April 28th: Anoka Prom 2023
- 8:30pm to 11:00pm at Parkview Meeting & Event Center at Mall of America
- Ticket go on sale via ParentVue on Wednesday, April 19
- Ticket pick up begins on Thursday, April 20 during lunches
May 1st: Late start for students.
MCA Testing 2023
For Students in Grades 10 and 11:
- MCA's will be held on Monday, April 24th, 2023.
- Students in grades 10 and 11 should arrive to school at their normal time and report to their testing locations by 7:40 am. Testing locations will be posted on the wall across from the Counseling Office.
- Students, please get ample sleep and eat breakfast prior to testing. Grab-n-go breakfast will be available from 7:05 am - 7:35 am. There will be bag lunches available for those who choose to stay at school for lunch.
- Buses will run at their normal school day times.
- Grade 10 students will take the reading MCA.
- Grade 11 students will be taking the math MCA.
- Students will remain in the test room until all students in that test room are done. Students should be prepared with a book. All students who choose to stay at school after testing will be directed to a supervised area.
- All MCAs are given on the computer. Students should bring wired headphones/earbuds, No Bluetooth headphones are allowed.
- All students should bring their school issued Chromebooks. Students in 11th grade should also bring a charged calculator. Students without a school issued Chromebook will be provided one for testing on test day.
- This will be a Remote Learning Day for students in grades 9th and 12th.
- Students in Grades 9th and 12th will be provided assignments through Google Classroom to complete remotely from home.
- Anoka High school will provide a learning location at school for students who choose to come to school.

Now is the time to prepare for the MCA and other post-secondary testing.

Anoka Student Athletes Signing Day
On April 12th, Anoka Student Athletes were signing to continue their athletic careers in college.

AHS Career & Tech-Ed Department awarded grant!
The Gene Haas Foundation awarded the Career & Tech-Ed department of Anoka High School an $8,000 grant to support scholarships and student competitions. Mr. Joslin and his students accepted the award.
Sophomore Brionie Wakooli carves her path to success outside of Minnesota
Sophomore, Brionie Wakooli, is one top giant slalom and border cross snowboarding racers in the country. Brionie recently competed at Copper Mountain in Colorado in USASA Nationals. Brionie competed against 30 competitors from around the world- winning her first two races in border cross, and making it to semifinals. Brionie is an honor student and an accomplished equestrian rider.
Way to go, Brionie! The Anoka Family is proud of you!
Culver's night for Anoka Boys Tennis!
The Anoka Boys Tennis booster club is organizing a fundraiser at Culver's on May 2. 10% of sales between 5-7pm on May 2 will go to towards the Boys Tennis Team. You do not need to show the flyer or mention Anoka Tennis.

What is new in the College and Career Center?
Anoka-Hennepin Spring Spectacular!
The Anoka-Hennepin Career and College Specialists are excited to be hosting our first annual Spring Spectacular on Saturday, April 22 from 8:30-11:00 a.m. This event will highlight a variety of career and college planning options for students and families. The format will include a mix of scheduled sessions and open fair times.

Apply for the Summer Academic Enrichment Program!
The Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP) provides stipends on a first-come, first-serve basis, to cover all or a portion of the direct cost of eligible summer academic enrichment programs for students in grades 3-11.
Enroll your child in an academic summer camp and apply for a stipend to help you pay for it!
Explore interests in:
• English
• Fine Arts
• Humanities
• Mathematics
• Performing Arts
• Science
• Social Studies
• World Languages and Cultures
Apply for an stipend if your child:
• Is a Minnesota resident and a student (3rd - 11th grade) attending an eligible summer enrichment program.
• Is eligible for free or reduced priced meals or meets income requirements.
Students can be awarded one stipend of amaximum amount of $1,000 that will be
directly paid to the program they enroll in.
AHS Volunteer Corner
Our Volunteers are a gift we cherish all year long. But National Volunteer Appreciation (April 16-22) is a great time to showcase and thank our special helpers.
Our amazing AHS Volunteers have selflessly given over 8,000 hours to our students and staff this school year!!! From cafeteria helpers and chaperones to ushers and volunteer coaches these folks are filling needs and making a serious impact. Thank you for your generous gift of time!

Severe Weather Awareness Week is April 17th - 21st, 2023
Are you ready for severe weather? Each year, HSEM (Homeland Security and Emergency Management) in collaboration with the National Weather Service sponsors Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota. The week is designed to refresh, remind and educate everyone about the seasonal threats from severe weather and how to avoid them. It's also a great time to make and practice your emergency plan and build or refresh your emergency preparedness kit.
