Good afternoon Firebird Nation Families,

We would like to thank all of our students and their families for attending Academic Awards Night. It was a wonderful evening celebrating our students and their accomplishments. We are extremely proud of how hard all of our students worked during the first semester.

Again, please keep in mind, mini courses have been rescheduled to the first week of May. The next few weeks and months will fly by quickly. Therefore, I encourage students and families to pay very close attention to how students are doing in class. If a student is struggling in class, please reach out to the teacher first. If you need further assistance, please reach out to the grade level counselor and assistant principal. We definitely want to team with you to ensure the success of all students at FMS.

In helping to support Falcon High School and Falcon High School Athletics, any Falcon Middle School student who would like to attend games at the high school need to be accompanied by parents. The high school has seen a number of behavioral concerns during games. Although FHS definitely wants our middle school kiddos to attend and be part of FHS athletics, our students need to behave appropriately. Please speak to your kiddos and moving forward if your student wants to attend a game, parents need to be present.

Again, please encourage your students to dress appropriately for the cold weather. Coats, jackets, hats, and gloves would be best.

FMS Families,

FMS is already starting to plan for the 2024-25 school year!

During this time, our school needs to gather the intent to return information from our current students. Getting this information from our D49 families helps our schools better prepare for the upcoming school year and plan class sizes and staffing needs.

The Intent to Return Survey for current students is now available electronically through the PowerSchool Parent Portal account by either accessing your Parent Portal account on a desktop computer or the Parent Portal Mobile App (not the D49 App).

Only one response per student is needed.

Linked here is a step-by-step resource on how to complete this Intent to Return survey via Ecollect (Desktop).

Hello all Firebird Nation Families,

We wanted to reach out to all of you as we go through our 2023-2024 School Year.

This year at Falcon Middle School, we are wanting to spend more time working with all grade-level Firebirds on the mastery of their core contents. Due to this, FMS will be offering after-school tutoring and subject help.

FMS will be offering a 1-hr 15-min tutoring window on Mondays through Thursdays from 3:15-4:30 pm.

These times will be used to:

· Master current standards and concepts
· Master former standards and concepts
· Work on current learning plans/Guided Support

If you are interested in attending a tutoring window, please fill out the following Google Form.

Once you fill out a Form, you are CONFIRMED for those days.

Any attending students ARE REQUIRED to have a plan for being picked up at 4:30 pm.

*FMS Eligibility Guidelines Update*

Throughout the school year, we will review eligibility for sports, clubs, and other activities. To help your child make the most of these opportunities, remind them to finish and submit their weekly assignments by Monday at 3pm. Assignments after this might not be graded before the grade check. Teachers will update grades in PowerSchool.

The Heads Up Eligibility Check takes place every Friday. Students who are struggling in a course(s) will receive a notification from the Athletic Director regarding their current failing grade status. The Final Eligibility Check is on Tuesday at 10 am. If, unfortunately, your child is deemed ineligible, both the student and parents will receive an email notification from the Athletic Director detailing their ineligible status for the week. Please review the FMS Eligibility Rules below:

FMS Eligibility Guidelines

• Heads up Eligibility Check is every Friday at 10am and Final Eligibility Check is Tuesday at 10am.
• A student-athlete with 1 or more failing grade(s) (F) on Tuesday's Final Eligibility Check will be considered INELIGIBLE.
  
• INELIGIBLE time period starts on Tuesday and continues through the following Tuesday morning. IF athletes are not on the next week’s eligibility report, they will be reinstated.
• A student-athlete that is on the Weekly Ineligibility List may practice with the team, however will not be able to suit-up or dress-out for any competitions or events during the duration of the ineligibility period. Also, no student-athlete who is ineligible will travel with the team.
• If a student-athlete appears on the ineligibility list for a third time in a sports season, they become ineligible for the remainder of the sport’s season and must turn in equipment and uniforms to the coaches as soon as possible.

Thank you for your attention to these details. We are excited to see your child's growth in both their studies and their extracurricular pursuits.
