Coach Joe Popp Stadium

Graduation begins at 8:30am, but seniors need to report to the MHS Performing Arts Center by 7:45am. All graduates should be in their seat at 7:45am.

Only students that meet all graduation requirements will be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.

*Graduation is typically HOT! Seniors are allowed to have battery powered fans for comfort. Bottled water is provided for graduates.

*Seniors are allowed to invite as many guests to the outdoor graduation as they wish. However, if it rains, the ceremony will be moved to the The Main Gym and an admission ticket will be required.

*All seniors will receive 4 rain tickets at graduation practice on June 7th. These tickets are required IF graduation is moved to The MHS main gym due to weather. These tickets are not replaceable if lost. The Performing Arts Center will be used for overflow. Any guest who doesn't have a ticket will be able to watch the graduation ceremony via livestream.

*Graduation will be broadcast on Facebook Live this year!

*Families and friends are invited down to the field once graduation is over for photographs and celebration!

*Seniors will pick up diplomas in the field house after the ceremony. Graduates will not receive their diploma if they owe fees/fines. For questions about fees owed, please see Ms. Amy Wilson in the MHS Main Office.

Latin Honor System

Summa Cum Laude

4.5 with highest honor

Magna Cum Laude

4.2-4.49 with great honor

Cum Laude

3.9-4.19 with honor

Honors are based on final weighted GPA’s. Cords will be awarded at the June 7th graduation practice. The honor will be read at graduation after the graduates name.

NC Scholar -

Seniors who achieve a final unweighted GPA of a 3.5+ AND meet course requirements will be distinguished as a NC Scholar. NC Scholars will receive a gold tassel at graduation practice on June 7th and a gold seal will be placed on their diploma. NC Scholar will not be read at graduation.

*Please note that GPA's are not rounded up in order to award Latin Honors or NC Scholar.

While MHS no longer recognizes Valedictorian and Salutatorian, the top 3 graduates in the senior class will speak at graduation.

Graduation Attire

Graduation Dress Code-

Graduation is a special day that requires special, more formal attire. MHS requires all graduates to follow the graduation day dress code.

  • Dresses or skirts must not visible below the gown

  • Pants must be a dark color (ex: Black, Navy Blue)

  • Shirts must be button-down white or light colored and have a tie

  • Shoes and Sandals must be of a dark color (ex: Black, Dark Brown)

  • Sandals must have a back strap

  • Tennis shoes and flip-flops are not allowed

  • High heels and wedges are strongly discouraged due to the field turf

If you cannot afford any of the required items of clothing, please see the principal, a counselor or a teacher privately. Give us enough time and we can help you get what you need.

Final Transcripts

Colleges require a FINAL transcript in order to complete enrollment. Seniors will need to request their final transcript via Parchment. If you have already committed to your school, go ahead and request your final transcript to be sent to your college today. It's really simple. Just make sure you select HOLD FOR GRADES when you place your order. If you do not select hold for grades, your current transcript will be sent. The college needs confirmation that you have graduated and the final transcript confirms that. Let your counselor know if you have any questions!
