TUESDAY RESULTS
Freshman season end of season write-up:
Overall record: 24-10
District Record: 11-5
I was blessed with such a great group of girls my first season coaching volleyball here at Medina Valley and what a fun season it was. All the girls improved so much in their physical skills, their strength and conditioning, and mental toughness. There is always that transitioning period from middle school to high school and being the first sport of the year, the girls had to really mature and become resilient as they adjusted to the more competitive nature of high school. All our tournaments had some really great moments and competitive games but the highlight of the season was the Holy Cross tournament as they took home first place! Not only did the girls come out to compete, they also bonded and danced with other teams at that tournament, showing great sportsmanship and attitude. These freshman have set their expectations high and have created a Legendary Legacy that will continue to grow as much as they do over the next few years in the program.
Junior Varsity end of season write-up
The JV volleyball squad wrapped up their season this week with a win over Southside. This brings an end to a highly successful season for these young ladies. They end the season with an overall record of 28-7 and a district record of 14-2. The girls finished in second place in district only losing to Harlan. They also competed at the varsity tournament in D´Hanis where they finished in 4th place and took a 3rd place finish in the Incarnate Word tournament. Overall it was simply a fantastic season for the Panther JV Volleyball Squad!!! GO GIRLS!!! You made your coach very proud.
Tuesday night was the final regular season home game for the volleyball team. The girls defeated Southside in four sets. That win gave the Panthers their 30th win for the season, breaking the school record for most wins in a season set last year. The volleyball team will compete in the bi-district playoff game against Highlands on Tuesday November 5 at South San's Durbon Center at 7:30. COME EARLY, BE LOUD. WEAR BLACK!!!!
Football Update
Varsity Football
Last Friday the Panthers travelled to Orem Stadium to take on the Alamo Heights Mules. The Mules got off to a fast start, driving the football down the field on their opening possession, but your Panther defense held strong near the goalline and Heights had to settle for a field goal. That was the only time in the game that the Mules had the lead. The Panthers took their second possession down and tacked on a field goal of their own to make it 3-3. The defense for the Panthers was outstanding all night. After Medina Valley threw an interception in the end zone, the Panther defense came up huge on a JJ Marty pick 6 with seconds remaining in the first half. Pablo Sandoval tacked on the extra point to give the Panthers a 10-3 lead heading into the half. Medina Valley’s offense took the opening possession of the second have and drove the field in 4 plays, scoring on a rush by Charlie Marsh. With the extra point the Panthers took a 17-3 lead. The Mules had one last scoring drive in the game, which was largely aided by the officials, to make the score 17-10. The remainder of the game the MV defense shut down the Mules, and the offense ground out clock eating drives to keep the Heights offense off the field. In the final seconds, Devin Steubing picked off the Alamo Heights quarterback, and James Gipson and the offense ground out a few first downs to run the clock out on the Mules. The victory is the first time Medina Valley has ever beaten Alamo Heights in football, and solidifies the Panther’s chances of reaching the playoffs. The Panthers will host state-ranked and district champion Kerrville Tivy this Friday at Panther stadium. A win Friday guarantees a playoff berth for MV, so show up, bring a friend, get loud and support your Panthers.
The JV football team lost a tough battle to Alamo Heights last night 21-6. The Panthers scored their touchdown on a pass from Nick Rash to Blake Mulvaney.
Defensively, Hunter Brown recovered a fumble and Alex Luna led the way in tackles.
This brings the JV record to 6-3 on the year. Next week we travel to Kerrville Tivy to face the Antlers.
Freshman Football
Both Freshman football teams traveled to Alamo Heights to take on the Mules on Thursday. The Orange started the night off with a hard fought battle but fell to the Mules 21-0. The Black team also came out swinging, but the Mules offense swung back. Heights jumped out to an early lead that was too much to overcome and the Panthers could not pull out the win, with a final score of 16-8. Next week the Panthers have their last game of the year at home against Kerville Tivy.

The AP test registration process has changed this year. For the 2019-2020 school year students will register and pay for their exam by November 1st, but will still take the actual exam in May 2020. Students received information in their AP classes the week of September 23-27 on this new process. Just a few things to note:
All students taking an AP test will have to create a College Board Account and register to their specific class using a unique code. This code will be handed out to them when they receive registration information in class.
All students taking an AP exam will go through the Total Registration website to choose and pay for the test they are taking. If they took an AP test here at MV last school year they already have a Total Registration account.
ALL tests have to be chosen and paid for by November 1st.
